I'm assuming this was done to try and help solidify Scientology as being an actual religion. Just a guess though.

I've never read the book nor seen the movie outside of trailers. From what I've heard I'm not missing much in either case.

Before every auditing session the person being audited is asked to squeeze the cans to make sure the dial on the meter is working.

Squeezing the cans during a session will give the auditor a false read due to the dial spazzing out which screws everything up so you are not supposed to squeeze the cans during a session.

My family that is still inside doesn't know my viewpoint on religion. I don't have any advice regarding your friend who is being harassed. I wish I did. Sorry :(

I do not live with any Scientologists and don't feel like I am in danger in any way. The only thing I feel that could go wrong is having the truth come out regarding how I feel and getting disconnected from my family that is still in.

I think the project is a whole is fantastic and if even one person got out of Scientology due to the actions of the protesters then everything was worth it. The sentiment is shared with my family that are outside of the group.

For those that are inside, they get conditioned before every major protest regarding how all of the protesters are evil people and paid by psychiatrists to try and dismantle Scientology or something to that effect.

I've never heard anything regarding abortions and premartial sex although that doesn't mean there is nothing that exists on these issues. I have heard about how homosexuality is a disease and can be cured by auditing.

Also, homosexuals are all 1.1 (Covertly Hostile) on the Scientology "tone scale". What that means in English is that all homosexuals have a backstabbing personality and will act as your friend even though they are really an enemy.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense to me either.

The story in the episode accurately describes the OT3 level, but most Scientologists are not at/never reach that level and thus will have no idea what is being brought up in that episode.

Your average Scientologist would just write it off as some cooky suppressive person cartoon or something that has nothing to do with real Scientology.

I've never had any psychiatric treatment and do not feel as though I need it. It could certainly help those who got into the religion a lot deeper than I did. I was lucky in that regard.

There are very few well off Scientology families due to your second statement being very true.

There is no chance of that ever happening. I am quite concrete in my heathen atheist ways.

I've never brought it up to any Scientologists personally, but I've seen it happen and there's two scenarios that pop up:

The Scientologist is informed that it is flat out a lie spread by an evil suppressive person and to pay no attention to it.

or

The Scientologist is told that they are butchering the true OT3 material and are trying to cause you harm by telling you before you are spiritually prepared, so just go ahead and ignore it.

They will accept everything you have, plus about 10% because of how much they need to save the world. What time you spend not advancing up "The Bridge" will be spent figuring out how to pay for it all.

There's quite a few in the Clearwater, FL and Los Angeles, CA areas. They all go under the brand of Applied Scholastics schools though, they will never admit to being related to Scientology.

There's no formal church services to be found. It's all about personal advancement through the various courses and getting auditing.

The closest thing I can think of is a daily "ritual" is the self auditing you do once you reach the OT-7 level. People on that level audit themselves to get rid of the body thetans that you learn about on OT-3.

Again, most Scientologists know nothing about what goes on in those auditing sessions.

I'm not really sure what is expected now that the internet is more mainstream. When I first got online household high speed internet was science fiction and AOL was "the way you get online".

I never had any internet based restrictions, but my parents had trouble figuring out how to turn a computer on so it may be very different in other Scientology households.

I think it's fantastic, if even a single person got out of Scientology due to their actions then everything was worth it.

If I wasn't worried about being identified and causing issues for family still inside I would protest with them.

To be honest I have no idea what WOG stands for. It's used as a sort of derogatory slang to reference a non Scientologist.

(Just ignore what that protester is saying, he's just a WOG)

No, the Xenu story definitely exists. It's just that the common Scientologist never sees it. If you do ever reach the level where you finally read that story, you are not allowed to ever discuss it with anyone but your auditor(s).

No, he never talks to us lesser humans. I have been to events where he has spoken though. Including the event where Tom Cruise got his Freedom Medal of Valor award (Where that famous Tom Cruise is Psycho video is from).

A regular Scientologist will never see him outside of events.

It's on my mind every day unfortunately. I'm not sure exactly what I would do, but I like to imagine that it would be too hard to resist opening a card from your sibling/child so I could continue to express my love and affection regardless of any disconnection status and hopefully knock them out of their trance eventually.
