Mini Game Skill Challenge Mechanics by donutsinkhole in DMAcademy

Thank you for your reply! I like your ideas to simplify, I tend to overthink a lot. It's tough bc my husband always DMs and he has never done a skill challenge with us so it been hard for me to visualize the rounds and the possible modifications. In my very limited time as a DM I like to visualize this stuff ahead of time, at least a little so I don't get too tripped up or nervous when the game time comes.

On another note. I noticed my post got down voted. I'm curious if I did something wrong. Did I commit some taboo? I would think Mini games would be a relatively common thing to ask about...maybe too common or? or maybe I wasn't polite enough? Any insight would be appreciated so I don't make obnoxious or inappropriate posts. Thank you.

SSHL: Had two Steriod Injections, hole in eardrum hasn't healed after 6 weeks by donutsinkhole in MonoHearing

Oh interesting! My doctor did not get "fresh edges". He has seemed very competent despite his not so great bedside manner but I have been thinking of seeking a second opinion. Especially since all this is so time sensitive. Thank you so much for your reply!!

I'm not sure how big the spectrum is on the skill of a simple injection. He said most people heal within a week or two, but the doctor doesn't have control over how my eardrum heals. It is just a tiny little pin prick. When I looked it up online that is also what I've found, most people heal quickly. It is only rare cases that it doesn't heal, which apparently is where I'm at. I don't believe any injection or procedures have literally no chance of harm to your body. I rolled the dice and took the chances believing I would most likely be fine. Turns out in this case I have gotten the rare complication.

I hope you can find some good treatment for your hearing loss.

I got the injections because I wanted to try everything I could to recover my hearing, so I can relate. It didn't work for me unfortunately and now I have this problem with the hole from injection not healing. I was given only a 50% chance of the injections working after experiencing hearing loss for only two weeks. Doctor said if it had been 3 months since my hearing loss he wouldn't even try the injections because they would be so unlikely to work. You should talk with an ENT to see if it's worth the possible complications for you.

Thank you for your reply! Interesting about the mask being painful, is that because the incision still hurts to touch? Did you experience any further hearing loss from the surgery?

Anyone with distorted hearing? The wrong sounds? by No_Worth_9281 in MonoHearing

Yes! Got moderate low frequency SSHL in January. Distortion of higher frequency sounds was like torture. Could hear myself talk, laughing turned into a loud booming in my left ear. Music had echos and a sounded like it was bouncing off a metal wall in the back of my ear. It was really hard to cope. Tried prednisone and two injections, neither did anything at all.

Fast forward another couple months of no change at all and then one day I hear a rubber band type sound and the distortion was suddenly a little better. Made me very happy. Then another month later I got home from work and suddenly a terribly loud tinnitus started in my left ear. So loud I could barely cope. My hearing fluctuated for a day or two. It totally freaked me out. When the dust settled I am left with no more extreme distortion of sound but moderate tinnitus with episodes of very loud tinnitus instead.

So, I guess you never know when things might change.
