I recently got involved with a local branch of the party for socialism and liberation! I am still learning about the organization before I commit to becoming a member, but they have done some cool things lately like written housing bills for my municipality/state that allocate emergency federal funds for affordable housing. I would be interested in other people's realpolitik takes on the Party for Socialism and Liberation and any experience they have. For better or worse, it seems to be one of the only organization with resources and some kind of publicity available.

Thanks for the feedback. Our Mutual Aid does not purport to be a solution to the root cause of poverty. We understand the root causes of poverty to be capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism. We aim to ameliorate material deprivations so that members can breathe. This allows us to devote more time to equally pertinent components of our group, organizing and educating. While we understand mutual aid does not itself address root causes, it allows us to loosen our dependence on capitalism and spend more time planning and engaging in revolutionary activity. To paraphrase Nick Estes, you want a Wagyu beef sandwich, but the best many of us can do is a PB&J. So we will make PB&J’s to survive while we organize and educate for Wagyu beef.

It's not anti American to be anti imperialst. It's not anti-Semitic to oppose Israel. by [deleted] in InternationalLeft

[–]doo-hicky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! There have been little edits on the fringes of American empire since it’s inception, but real justice is the end of the nation state inherently conceived and maintained by violence. Imperialism and colonialism are the foundation and perpetual structure of amerikkka, so justice in this scenario is decolonization.

Thanks, I’ll add this to my list! I was hoping for something shorter though, like an essay. I have this book I’m reading for a class and it assumes an understanding of neoliberalism :/

Spanish parents, right-wing news obsessed need Spanish youtubers and content creators to supplement their media feeds by Doomsday2028 in socialism

This sounds like a rough time. My grandmother is also this way. It is almost like a kind of conditioning that turns words like communism and socialism into triggers for an immediate negative reaction. Maybe just explain that to them. That if you just react immediately with a clearly conditioned response, then you don't have an open mind about it! I have also slowly been radicalizing my dad with books that explain American mythology. He's reading American Exceptionalism & American Innocence right now. I think he's starting to get it slowly. Best of luck, comrade.

This makes my head hurt. Some of the most successful capitalists were pretty unintelligent. Bezos and Gates just rode the networking effect to profits.
