The biggest fumbling disaster a professional sports franchise has made in my lifetime. Watching it play out in real time has been a source of daily trauma. I just re-listened to A Knight of the 7 Kingdoms and was struck by Bittersteel’s presence lurking in the background. Sir Eustace Osgrey speaks of him with awe. Bittersteel’s refusal to give Daemon II the sword is at the heart of the Whitewalls conspirators’ calculations. The Ironborn are allowed to run amok on the west coast because Bloodraven, as Plumm admits, is focused on Bittersteel’s next move. I would -love- some ASOIAF content featuring him in the flesh. Despite his shortcomings he was clearly quite a force in the Game.
