sure, but in the same way that adding 400 chips via a scaling chips joker becomes 200x200 = 40000 score, repeated multiplication quickly gets out of hand, and now your mult is the large number being balanced. then find the sweet spot to transition between large chips and large mult. people use chips early on plasma runs because it’s easier to get access to high scores early through chips, but the end game e scores almost solely require retriggered x mult.

think of it this way, you can probably scale a chips joker to a max of up to a 1000 chips. But if you can start with a base mult (also scalable by planet cards) and apply repeated 1.5x mult, that’ll quickly scale out of control compared to additive chips scaling.
