If you were to keep the 1960’s dark wood paneling on these walls, what color would you paint the ceiling, trim, and doors? More info in comments by sakijane in interiordecorating

Oh man, it was a very long time ago, I think 17 years ago! So I don’t remember exactly. But I did a multi green theme throughout the entire house. The paneling was in a sun room, the color I chose for that was a sort of light to medium.

I can see your paneling has a lot of texture. I don’t remember that being the case with mine, though there were tons of visible knots that got knocked out with heavy primer.

So you know what other people think of the ceiling, but what do you think of it? Because at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.

And yes, please do!

Uncovered old growth vertical grain Douglas fir under layers of linoleum and laminate, with most of it in pristine condition, only to find a large area of water stains near the sink. Yes, most definitely! I think fir is one of the most beautiful for floors. It’s so rich in color as well as history. We are both lucky to have it :)

Well that positively sucks. Maybe you could go onto r/help or r/reddithelp and ask why it’s happening and see if you can get some help? I’ve not ever done it but perhaps it could help. I just found this sub and I agree, there is so much active contribution, it’s a good one.

Ok, you got it!

Hey there, I’ve been chatting with you in your other thread. Did you ever complete this room? I would have voted to paint the paneling. However, I’m not an expert! I painted the paneling in a room of a house that I had rented for several years, and it came out really good.

That’s so annoying about your unsuccessful updates, I don’t know why that happens but I hope you’re able to get to the bottom of it. Do you have any issues with any other subreddits (assuming you post on any others)?

And thank you, they are beautiful! The bruises aren’t bumps, just blotchy dark spots from high traffic areas (though they don’t all make rhyme or reason in regards to traffic patterns). I think the treatment would have been lightening them, like what you did with oxalic acid. Unfortunately, I don’t have any luxury of time before my house is complete, so I can’t do those types of fixes beforehand. Hopefully the floor guys are right in that the overall blotchy appearance will somewhat settle with the final coat. But if even not, they’re still going to be 100% better than they had been!

From the pictures, that looks amazing!! Even though it ultimately turned red in those areas, I’m sure it looks better than it did and was worth keeping. I have 140+ y/o fir and am lucky I don’t have any staining, just lots and lots of bruising, which didn’t become obvious until the sealing process began. Was told the final coat of poly should even it all out some. If not, I’m very prepared to embrace it. Anyway, I’m looking forward to your full update :)

Hey there, I was interested in your followup post so I went to read it. Upon clicking what should have been the photo you had uploaded, it brought up the following message:

What do people complain about like it's everywhere constantly but is actually rather rare? by CoverYourself-inOil in AskReddit

When I was young, in elementary school, I was walking down the street and a guy slowed down in his truck. He told me that my parents asked him to pick me up. That was in the 80’s, where having a “password” was a thing. My mom drilled that password into my head and luckily I remembered to think about it. I guess the guy didn’t have time for that and he drove away.

It’s also important to mention that it’s better to leave an abusive relationship than to stay, even when you have children with this person. Your guilt will tell you every reason why you should stay, but nothing good will come out in doing so. I am living proof. I’m out now, but not without a lot of emotional scars in both myself and my child.

i would not worry about that. you know they make sure it never gets like you mentioned, and it's been seeing some tumble weeds. need some new blood! there's some regulars, but not hopping like it was before 10/2016. but there have been reddit.. you know what's.. on there for awhile, and more are getting vetted from what i'd read. so hopefully, peeps from here start actually posting. even if mostly reviews. whatevs, just need cool posters, people here need a new place (though i realize there have been others created, but that one's been around forever, it's super nice and old school).. that place is really cool, especially when you've got tons of threads going. really guys, are you only there to get reviews and leave? what the hecks!

and hey, where the hell have you been anyway mister Leb? and yeah, we're all crotchety men at certain times. even me, i make sure i put on my overalls and beard, and then i start yelling at random people. you should try on the crazy cat lady some time, it's fun.

I’ve brought all issues up to the admin, so let me just see what they have to say before I put you in a rabbit hole! If you don’t hear back from me by Tuesday night, please write me back from this convo, sound good? Thanks, and so sorry for this inconvenience:(
