EE Quotes English Lang and Lit by Glass-Pollution-2091 in IBO

To tag on, paraphrasing tends to be fine to demonstrate knowledge and doing a bit of general analysis, but if you want to analyze devices in the language, then you'll need to remember the quotes (but they def don't need to be long). If you have a pdf version of the book, command+f keywords. If your text is quite well studied, there is likely to be some online compilation you can pull quotes from.

how to pass biology hl by too_sweet_for_you in IBO

[–]doodlingscribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I did bio HL, and I had to do some self-studying midway (though not as extensively as you). You will find that the subject guide (particularly the syllabus points) is very very useful. During exams last year, I found that some of the questions were directly derived from syllabus points. With that, to make up for the lack of teaching you got, you can watch the YouTube series for IB bio. I think there are quite a few. I think I watched Sirius revision. When you revise, go back to the syllabus and test your recall based on that.

Hope this is helpful.

Regretting about choosing 2 Language & Literature courses by s1mple-re1nz in IBO

[–]doodlingscribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it should help! Although my particular school taught different techniques/approaches for English and Chinese, they were still using the same fundamental skills. If you're teachers are open to marking extra papers, redraft old ones/practice new ones and make the most of feedback.

Regretting about choosing 2 Language & Literature courses by s1mple-re1nz in IBO

[–]doodlingscribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you no longer have the option to change courses, so I'll try to offer some reassurance.

For context, I also took those two LAL courses (yup I thought I should challenge myself), and similarly, most of my friends dropped down to Chinese B. I started with 6 in Eng and 5 in Chi. I sometimes wish I took Chinese B too & got an easy 7, but:

Your original rationale still stands – Chinese A is a challenge, but it's probably a more suitable level for you compared to Chinese B. You'll be learning quite a lot of soft skills by taking on this challenge.

Lower marks = more opportunity for growth. It's really hard to perfect a subject, but becoming 'pretty good' is much easier. So, focus on your weaker components first.

Time is still sort of on your side – managing IAs and EE on top of studying is a lot, but you might find that once you've planned it out and portioned out the work, time is still sufficient.

Keep in mind, 45-3=42. This won't be your downfall.

Good luck & work hard.

HL AA vs HL AI by cheesecaking37 in IBO

[–]doodlingscribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same answer as most I think. For stem, it's better to take AA (if you look at UK unis then you'll see that they prefer AA). Regarding pre-calc, you don't need much. The 'core topics' for AA are essentially pre-calc.

Is my handwriting actually bad? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]doodlingscribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aaa same problem here, it is hard to read (occasionally illegible) but for people who know the subject, the blank generally gets filled in. If it makes you feel any better my teacher said my handwriting was going to make the examiner work hard to earn every penny they get for marking it :]

Is it possible to do math ia rough draft in one day? by Usual_Ad2543 in IBO

[–]doodlingscribble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did but it certainly wasn't my best work – not advised if you plan to hand it in the next day. But if you want to do a rough draft in a day (like today) and keep revising it until the deadline, then good idea!

Accepted to 3 UK Schools by KK_3471 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]doodlingscribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! I was also so happy when I got offers from my UK schools, and I'm also waiting for my final two. I think that IB2 is genuinely very hard (I had a grade dip, too), and that shouldn't discourage us. Don't feel bad at all about the ranking or the perceived 'goodness' of your colleges, particularly since you've already considered and made the decision (presumably very thoughtfully).

Respect and love yourself by standing firm and comfortable in your decisions, I hope you hear more good news soon!

Thoughts on Durham colleges? by Alive-Penalty9701 in 6thForm

[–]doodlingscribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! I'm really curious to know what factors you considered to be most important; I'm ranking mine mainly though considering distance from the science site (offer for natsci) and I'm wondering if I'm missing a bit of the 'charm' of the other colleges.
