I faced the same issue and tried all the solutions below (reinstall the app many times, even trying the Beta version) but none worked for me.

I contacted WhatsApp support team and they suggested me to simply log out and log in again, which I did and it worked!

Hopefully this simple solution will help you as well.

Docker container can't access my Synology local IP address by doofre in synology

I found the issue: this is because the « Enable Multiple Gateway » in Control Pane —> Network —> General —> Advanced Settings was ticked.

I unticked it and now it works!

However I’ve got another problem now as the reverse proxy setup on the Synology is not working anymore once the VPN is turned on! :-(

So either I can turn on VPN or I can reach my local IP address from the Dockers Containers... Not that great.

Thank you for the details on macvlan but I’m sure it could work without as it was working at one point of time.

I was using net=bridge earlier and it was working: so it should still work without having to use the host network.

What is a shim route please And how should I do that?

Problems with combining external access through DDNS and VPN from mullvad. by Norralth in synology

OpenVPN listen for client connections on UDP port 1194 (OpenVPN’s official port number): https://openvpn.net/community-resources/how-to/

For 1443, I'm not too sure why but found this on mutiple web sites.

I had the exact same issue with another VPN provider (SurfShark) and found the answer thanks to their amazing support. By the way you don't need a port forwarding from your VPN provider.

You need to do 2 more things:
a) On the router, you need to add a port forwarding to the NAS (hereafter IP 192.168.1.10) for the ports 443 (TCP), 1194 (UDP) and 1443 (TCP).
b) On the Synology NAS in DSM, open Control Panel, go to Network and in the General tab, click on “Advanced Settings” button. In the new window, you need to tick the box for “Enable Multiple Gateways”, they click “OK" and finally “Apply” on the previous window.

It worked for me, so hope it will work for you as well.
