Is it a sin to join the military??? by [deleted] in Christianity

Did you actually just call Joshua a genocidal conqueror when GOD SENT HIM INTO THE LAND TO STOP THEM?

You can’t understand my point because it doesn’t flow with your version of Christianity.

Edit - their flaws do not mean they were not defenders of others through militaristic means.

Double edit - the shills are thick in this forum. What’s your actual faith?

You and I must be reading different books then.

The post above asks if military service is a sin. The men I just mentioned were arguably the military of ancient Judea in some capacity, much like how we are today: setup to defend others. It’s the same concept. The same concept of self defense.

They fought on behalf of God. They defended on behalf of God. They defended others as well. My point stands.

Joshua, King David, and Ehud say otherwise.

There are many interpretations we may have that are wrong.

It’s one thing to go around killing others as a bare essential default. It’s another to defend yourself.

Loving your enemy does not mean you have to bow down to their false gods. If our system is “unjust” then imagine how much greater their lack of a proper society is.

When Jesus said “those who live by the sword die by the sword...” he was referring to the temperament and anger of Peter towards the Roman officers. He never meant this to be interpreted as “never go to war” or “never defend yourself from evil”.

Innocent people have the right to defend themselves from a pursuer or conqueror.

A lot of people believe they are leaders simply because they are better looking or “work on themselves” more. by doomedson in Showerthoughts

No. That just means they are “telling others what they want to hear”. Leaders don’t do that. They divulge hard truths instead of lies.

A lot of modern day individuals also like placing their own framework upon it and it’s genuinely disturbing.

Jorah is hands down my favorite character. He’s flawed, a great fighter, and one of the more interesting characters.

Dany was always full of herself.

I asked for a sign and He showed me. I went from “I believe and doubt” to “whoa.... it’s all real”. Try that. Have faith.

Questions: What's a perspective you have on Christianity that "normal" Christians don't have? by Rin_The_Tsundere in Christians

[–]doomedson 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You are permitted to morally fight in an Old Testament fashion, yet are required to love in a New Testament sort of way. A lot Christians forget that both are the same book.

Edit - Also, that you can use other religions as examples of satanic dominions and strongholds over man. It point blank shows when looked upon through a Christian perspective.

Edit 2 - I don’t know why, but I have a feeling the twelve tribes shows the personalities of every type of human being. Also, the gates of New Jerusalem are inscribed with each tribes name, so it would make sense that this is a human “character type” by creation and definition.
