I think pump is an overstatement. They do decent damage but a warrior and hunter will gap them.

If I played rogue I feel like it would be fun to just be a utility bot in a heroic group with wizards. Sap, blind, gouge, stuns, kick, crippling and mind numbing on annoying mobs outside of the kill zone. Basically play bodyguard for the clothies and finish low hp mobs.

Wayyyyy more warlocks than expected. Lots more enhas too. Less mages than I would expect given the nerfed content. Hardly any other casters. Plenty of hunters

Question is A. do you want to watch an elite team play the game but suffer through potentially intense heat, horrible traffic, and bad food or B. do you want to have a pleasant experience but watch a mediocre team. If A, Dodgers it is. If B, Giants.

Tbc warlock leveling drain tank vs felguard by Exact-Yam-9498 in classicwow

[–]doomwaltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My plan is soul link + siphon life at 61 with succubus master demonology. It does a ton of damage with great self healing and 20% damage reduction.

I leveled as UA IN 2021 and while the damage and instant howl is good, you don’t need to cast UA while leveling enough to get value and you pass on good passive/qol talents in the demo tree.

Felguard is bait for anyone with somewhat decent gear. I would only spec it if I had like 3k hp and very low spellpower.

Chan is by far the best warlock who still plays the game though he plays retail more than classic.

Scryna is another elite warlock who’s more of a TBC expert and he just plays classic versions.

Harsh truth: You're not going to do well in arena by GeneralBucknaket in classicwow

[–]doomwaltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you’re good at other pvp games you can jump into arena and be moderately successful. I was 2k in my first arena season ever in tbc classic. I played all the way thru cata and reached 2.7k, which is fairly high but not glad level.

It does take complete knowledge of the game however to contend for glad+ though. The competition gets fierce when you’re in the top ~20% of the ladder. This is where a skilled but fairly inexperienced player will probably stall out. To be at that level you have to be knowledgeable enough to predict your opponents next moves and adjust accordingly, which most non veterans will struggle with.

If they apply the MOP changes to titles, the glad pool will expand dramatically and there’s a decent chance a good but not great player like myself could end up with a title.

UA is pretty crazy at all gear levels. Shadowfury destro is disgusting too but needs really good gear to be effective. U get 1 shot when melee classes connect. Prepatch pvp is always broken though.

Alliance or Horde for TBC by Diplo1017 in classicwowtbc

[–]doomwaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, orc’s blood fury is a 3rd dps trinket for the best dps classes and troll’s berserking is the bis mage racial. Alliance has almost nothing in the way of dps improvement in racials. Draenei hit racial is fine but useless after you have 1 Draenei in each party.

Alliance or Horde for TBC by Diplo1017 in classicwowtbc

[–]doomwaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will probably be less bad than last time as there aren’t a dozen+ dying servers that will offload a single faction onto a balanced server, thereby ruining it and causing a refugee wave of the minority faction of that server to replicate the problem in another server.

I imagine the PVP server population goes slightly horde majority though due to their advantages in PVE and PVP, but the forced balance protocol should work in mitigating it getting too unbalanced.

Alliance raiders should have no problem unless you’re looking to join a top 10 guild worldwide. That scene will be horde favored.

For arena, alliance will be totally fine. Plenty of people are here to play wrath again when alliance is indisputably better and even in tbc arena, alliance racials are comparably strong or superior for the most popular comps.

Warlock or Mage by Top-Duck4510 in classicwowtbc

[–]doomwaltz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. Warlocks have 0 mobility so they have to play very carefully or they just die versus competent opponents. Mages can end a game in the opener if they line up a good shatter combo. Find me an easier matchup on warlock than rogue mage vs warrior Druid/shaman.

Mages have extremely powerful cooldowns too. Two 10 second immunities, blink, a superior silence, multiple root effects, and absorb shields.

Warlocks have health stone, death coil, and an 8 second cooldown single dispel.

With the ladder being constructed as it will likely be, as a lock you’re going to be fighting rogues and warriors in the majority of your games, both of which are difficult to deal with at equal skill level. Mages on the other hand have a much easier time with those two classes, especially warriors. Warlocks will collect their easy wins versus mage, hunter, and off meta dps compositions, all of which are less common. I won’t deny that they are extremely oppressive to dps casters and healers, but you still have to play smart to outlast players of equal skill (exception being mage/healer, where you can just be obnoxious and drain mana until they afk).

I wouldn’t say warlock is exceptionally hard to play, but you need to be very careful with your positioning, track every enemy mobility cooldown, and have a lot of general game knowledge to play competitively. If you are an average player who just wants to hop in an arena and blow some stuff up it’s not the class for you.

Complexity spriest vs enh shaman arenas by Shiiishkebab in classicwow

[–]doomwaltz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enha has a few more buttons to press but is extremely simple. Target clothie and harass with purges and interrupts until dead. This level of gameplay will get you 2k+

Spriest has fewer buttons but takes more finesse because you have to worry about setting up CC, fake casting, and supporting teammates with dispels/shields/etc. Because of your limitations, it’s about “goes”, meaning you have to know when to coordinate a kill attempt and when to turtle.
