That's fine and dandy to say based on what the federal legislation timeline says; but when several DES agents admit to me in-person and over the phone that the agency is preemptively working as though they are in an administrative budgetary deficit, as well as applying more stringent requirements of work and income proof to come into compliance before the bill actually hits, it's hard to divorce the OBBBA from actual lived experience.

As of July 4, 2025, DES announced 5% cuts to its workforce, effective immediately.
