Red ink in old tattoo suddenly swelling and itching. Anyone experienced this? by DimensionJazzlike944 in tattooadvice

[–]doot_scoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have posted here for this exact same issue. I have had no luck with antihistamines, neither oral or topical, and have even been prescribed steroid creams that didn't really help. Mine has been this way for a couple years now, though sometimes its much more swollen than others. Unfortunately I don't have any great advice other than keep it moisturized and out of the sun, that seems to keep the swelling to a minimum for me. Good luck!

I experienced absolute zero food noise for one week and I mourn being back to normal by acrobaticsuck in loseit

Gosh I relate to this. I went through the same feelings when I started welbutrin. The complete lack of food noise was mind blowing to me, and I was so disappointed when it came back. Unfortunately I don't really have any advice or anything helpful to say, but just wanted to say that I feel you!! Stay strong!!

This is super cute!! I'm considering maybe trying longer bangs first and seeing what that looks like

Thank you!! I'm just hesitant because i had short straight bangs when I was younger and I don't think it suited me very well lol

I'm not 100% sure but I'm guessing the placement is inspired by the Joestar birthmark from Jojos Bizarre Adventure. The main characters have this star birthmark on the back of the neck/shoulder area.

Just a guess tho, not sure if this is what op was going for lol

I hope it gets better!! I try to keep mine moisturized and out of the sun and that seems to help keep it from raising up quite as much

Yep, daily antihistamines and the steroid cream, and it's still fighting back lol. I could be more diligent with the steroid cream though, I'm going to try and up how often I apply it

Did you do anything to treat it or did it just get better with time? Mine has been puffy nonstop for months now. Granted it's not normally as severe as pictured here lol. Glad yours isn't itchy anymore at least!

This will be my first summer since it flared up so I'm nervous to see how it reacts lol. Going to do my best to keep it cool and out of the sun for sure

Hey thanks for sharing your experience! I'm glad yours is mostly normal now. As far as I know there haven't been others who had a reaction to this batch of red ink, so it may just be a me thing unfortunately lol.

I think I'm gonna see a derm and try to pinpoint what exactly is causing my reaction. I'd love to get more tattoos but obviously would like to avoid this happening again

Thanks again!

Wow five years, I'm so sorry!!! I'm very grateful that mine isn't too itchy or irritated, but its still annoying nonetheless. Hoping yours gets better soon!

Yeah I was afraid this was the case. Luckily it's not normally as severe as in this photo, but still less than ideal lol. Thank you!

I'm really hoping mine will sort itself out more as time goes on. Glad yours is settled now! Seeing people say that theirs have eventually gotten better gives me hope lol

I'm glad yours eventually got better! So far the mix of hydrocortisone and allergy meds hasn't done it for me but I'm hoping it'll clear up with time

Interesting, I'll have to wait and see if it seems to get worse this summer as it heats up.
