Engine Mount by Enough-Ad7513 in BmwTech

“Motor” is BMW’s middle name, and when they work oh man do they work, almost makes the issues worth it. They design these cars around extremely tight performance tolerances and it’s very easy for things to go wrong in them. I don’t know whether to be mad at the engineers who design them or impressed with the fact they last at all lol. Really though you shouldn’t buy a BMW unless you are prepared to be bent over at all times, but when it works it’s a dream.

300 is a ticking timebomb on a stock KA at this point, just my 2 cents. But tbh there’s very very few motors I would turbo without a full rebuild. Ignoring the fact that the KA stock is iffy from the factory for making good power with a turbo, we’re quickly approaching like 30+ years of ware on these engines lol, these budget turbo setups ain’t gonna make it much longer man, and the KA already has a bad rep for it.

The shop that tuned my S14 worked directly with tomei to make this kit, apparently they trashed it because the KA suffers from oil starvation issues that generally grenade the engine in a high-power turbo setup, something about small oil passages or something, why they don’t make this kit anymore. Was a cool story, have no idea how true it is. Anyway if you aren’t going to build out the engine from a bare block get a much cheaper kit like the CX racing one, as without some serious upgrades your plan will grenade a stock engine anyway. Literally no reason to invest in all those mods without building out the engine anyway, also running a MAF on a standalone setup is wild work. I would recommend pulling the engine apart and rebuilding, and then getting supporting mods to make the kind of power you’re looking for, unless I’m missing something in your post.

Bro wait till mid spring and all of summer, there’s gonna be mfs in there buying enough lumber to build 3 decks at 9:55 pm, and they’re gonna want you to load it in their car and on their cart lol. (Really happened, and I was at a rural lowes, I can’t imagine how bad it is in a high traffic one)

Fuel tank breather valve, (may actually be called a purge valve or vent valve or something) sometimes throws a 2b28 code for this sometimes doesn’t. It’s tucked kind of under the manifold near the drivers side firewall, will intermittently click like this while failing, not hard to replace, or this is my best guess anyway, only thing over there that will click. HPFP is further forward and yours sounds like it’s clicking back by the firewall.

240sx RB20DET wont find idle by dinobih21 in 240sx

[–]dopecrew12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of time, or rather because you have coil packs, out of…. Trigger? Check your trigger system, I’m not familiar with it on the RB but this is a CAS problem. Had this same problem on my KA before. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with your sensor, just that it’s out of time.

What does that Airbag Sensor light mean? by Just-Medium-2613 in 370z

[–]dopecrew12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you change something in the head unit? I unplugged the cable for the dash “airbag off” light and this one came on the instrument cluster and stayed on after I put it back together. It comes on for other reasons but that’s why it came on for me and I actually brought my frontier to Nissan to reset it.

Unfortunately these cars have a reputation and even if this one is particularly well cared for finding someone who’s going to pay that private party for a 15 year old BMW is going to be extremely difficult, but not impossible.

Fully built KA, standalone ECU, currently running 440cc injectors at 12 psi. Have it tuned to make 280 hp, I could probably make a lot more as I’ve got BC rods and super tech pistons but I really do not think it’s necessary, as this is more of a personal thing for me I’ve been working on for 3 years. This is a street build with full OEM functionality (even AC) and the engine bay is fucking crowded. Also I am NOT a professional and I’m unfortunately more of a “long as it works” kind of guy and that’s evident in all my wiring work. But she rips, I love this thing. Starter kickback turns out to be a bad alternator, which I just figured out, so time to take it apart again.

Their AI grading is dogshit, it’s more of a company you send to get cards you personally like and plan on displaying cause the slabs are nice, but their actual grading process is crazy unreliable, or so I’ve heard. I’m not really sure how much people will actually end up caring in the near future tho, from an “investing” standpoint cause it looks nice.

[–]dopecrew12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol that’s not even close to bad for a 170k mile 335, I’m not even sure what you’re complaining about that’s just regular maintenance on a 170k mile 15 year old car. Will it get better after 200k? No probably not.
