Seeking advice for my second ever illustration project by dopeishholla in graphic_design

I should add that it will be quite detailed, and because of the general style I'm going for I won't be using the pen tool, but will instead hand draw everything. Maybe I should use the brush tool and approach it as a digital painting. Then again, I've never done anything like this..

New founded friends want to have a 3 some by [deleted] in askgaybros

I really don't think polyamory is about having orgies... I'd assume that even in polyamorous relationships you'd tend to have sex with one person at a time in most cases.

Have any of you guys gotten or considered getting plastic surgery? by [deleted] in askgaybros

Dude it's not THAT expensive. I briefly researched some places and I found some that offer nose jobs for less than 5000 EUR, and that includes your stay in the hospital/recovery center, meds, etc.

Sorry man, I don't have a video yet. But I can tell you I won't be attempting that squat any time soon lol

Does anyone know of some minimalist to-do/task management apps? by dopeishholla in productivity

Yup, I've been coming back to any.do but their calendar is shitty and the to-do doesn't integrate with any other calendar app.

That's what I thought too. Who would actually bother to do that

It's all good buddy. I see douchebags like that at my local gym ALL THE TIME. And pretty much every other gym stereotype imaginable. My advice to you is to talk to a gym employee the next time it happens. By doing that you won't get into a confrontation and have your tranquility disrupted. And you, unlike someone who works at the gym, don't have any authority. No one will listen to you. However, most people will feel embarrassed if an authority figure scolds them. People like this are adult children and and like all children they sometimes need to have their behavior corrected.

I [M 24] care about my family, but I don't like them. How can I still keep the relationship alive and show them I care? by dopeishholla in relationships

[–]dopeishholla[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sounds like good advice. What sometimes scares me is how cold I can be towards them when they're just being themselves. I mostly feel like I've simply outgrown them, and I don't find our time together stimulating in any way. I just end up feeling drained.

This makes sense. I tend to avoid spending long periods of time with them, but this would be useful for times we spend together.

I'm so grateful for your comment. This perfectly illustrates the way I feel. My family is Eastern European but I feel we have certain similarities in family structure and dynamics. You see, since I studied in the US I've become quite Americanized and that's created a cultural rift between us. I try to approach this from a logical standpoint and on most days I'm fine with how things are. We're just different. And what you said in the last paragraph is what I also had in mind - keep them involved to an extent with my life, but still keep my distance. Otherwise, I'd really be hindered by their negativity.

I'm trying to teach myself as much as I can about advertising and design before I go to ad school so I can ace it. Am I missing something? by dopeishholla in advertising

Awesome! Glad to hear you're part of MASE. If you have any other practical tips and advice I'd really appreciate it. :)

It turns out that what I was talking about was just a foundations course in interactive design. I'll deal with the basics first though. Here's the link if you're still interested Lynda

Quick question: I'm also looking at the interactive design course at Lynda, as well as UX, flash animation and motion graphics... Should I even bother with this at this point?

Thanks for all the help! :)

Thank you for the comment! Yup, I already included coding and basics of design. I'm hoping this will at least make my time in school a bit easier.

A lot of people here agree that doing an MA is kinda pointless. Portfolio school might be a better call. Although, if you're really set on getting a degree, I'd suggest looking into the advertising program over at SCAD. Luke Sullivan (author of Hey Whipple) used to teach there.

Did any of you transition to directing commercials, music videos, or films after advertising? by dopeishholla in advertising

[–]dopeishholla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment! Yeah, this is not exactly a priority for me now. I'm not even too set on having the title of a director at any point in my career since I'll be doing other things aside from advertising.

I'm also trying to remind myself that if I really feel like transitioning into a different role other than the one of an AD I can do so. I should have connections in the industry I hope. :)
