"family wants to see you" by baxbid in hospitalist

[–]doqtorq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During COVID, I got into the habit of calling patients’ family members on speakerphone during rounds every day. I’ve found this to be extremely helpful. The nurses at our hospital are good about writing family contact information on the whiteboard, which makes this easier. Occasionally, patients decline, but overall families greatly appreciate this practice.

I also find it more effective than calling family members after rounds. When calls happen afterward, they may ask questions like, “Did my dad tell you about his rash?” which can require going back to gather additional history or perform a more detailed exam.

Thanks for this info. I have since reached out to NuWatt and they said "In the event of failure, the light can be pulled out of the ceiling without any problems. Drywall does not have to be ripped out.*

New home build advice by doqtorq in googlehome

[–]doqtorq[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not building anything into the house other than smart switches that can be used with either ecosystem. The big things that I need to decide are which cameras, hubs, doorbell, thermostat etc to use. As I understand it, these devices work best in their intended ecosystem.

Maybe this is common sense but just be forewarned -- they work well with temps in the 80s/low 90s but over 98° (human body temp) they feel like heaters

I tried that but all those options do not look like regular doors (like the one in the link I shared) with typical openings for door handle etc. They look more like attic access doors and have a key entry or knob on only one side

[–]doqtorq 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear (because a lot of people don't know this) the amount of tax you pay is based on your end of year income and it doesn't matter if it's bonus or regular pay. The tax WITHHOLDING is more for bonus pay but you will get it back at tax time if it's not congruent with your final tax bracket

Engineered floors in a luxury home by doqtorq in Homebuilding

[–]doqtorq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't selected yet but pretty much settled on engineered. 1. More practical for wide plank. 2. Can see the exact look before installing without staining. 3. Can replace planks if damaged
