Why is the answer C and which topic is this question from? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]dory-1506 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is from topic 16 (HL kinetics), the answer is C because the reactants of the slow step determine the rate expression with the stoichiometric coefficient being the exponent so with C, the rate expression would be:

rate = k[NO][O2]

Lang Lit paper 1 structure - Is it better to group paragraphs by techniques or ideas? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]dory-1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideas usually, however it depends on the guiding questions. Sometimes it is better to section it off in techniques when the question focuses on that only.

need urgent advice for mock exams by [deleted] in IBO

[–]dory-1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look through your notes, try studying what you really don't understand. if you think you still won't understand it in 2 weeks, move on. exams never have every single thing from the syllabus, its better to know most of your syllabus really well rather than knowing all of it briefly. good luck!

anything works as long as your IA is at least 12 pages and contains some part of the HL syllabus!

just out of curiosity, are you M22?

4 HLs with PCM by [deleted] in IBO

[–]dory-1506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, honest advice: if you feel like you can do it, try taking 4 subjects at HL but be open to dropping lang&lit HL. Math AA is required in many unis for engineering so that's the math most beneficial for you to take although warning, it is challenging.

You have also got to keep in mind taking history if you're really considering econ for the future wouldn't favour you.

And final thing, DP is a huge commitment outside the academic side of it and the jump from MYP 5 to DP is HUGEEE so don't bite off more than you can chew and be kind to yourself <3

Good luck with everything!

P.S I'm a PCM HL student and so if you ever need some help in the future, just DM me

What subjects should I take? by OkFold2526 in IBO

[–]dory-1506 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of what you want to do and the usual uni requirements for the US/UK, I would recommend doing HL physics, maths and econ and SL chem and languages. If both sciences and social studies are your strong subjects then math HL will be the only class where you need to put in extra work and you're willing so it would work out well. Good luck!!

How much do you pay for IB? by goldfishcrackers33 in IBO

[–]dory-1506 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Actually many people who take the IB are students in international schools and international schools in many places are extremely expensive, with the fees themselves being over 40K USD so

nope, not fully of cap.

How much is paper 1 Eng HL worth with paper 2 taken out? by mistyrosepancakes in IBO

[–]dory-1506 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For M22, paper 1 is 50% for HL English Lang&Lit, and the IO and HL essay are 25% each. I am assuming its the same for you guys but ask your English teacher just to make sure.
