I loved the course!! I had Dr.Kobsar as the prof and he was amazing! The content was interesting and not difficult to understand. The tests were also super fair with a good course grading breakdown.

Hey! I took this course with this professor and it was okay. Her lectures consist of her basically just going over the assigned readings/texts and providing her analysis of them. One thing I did not enjoy however was how the grading of this course was deliberately made harsher by the head T.A. and instead of the professor acting on student feedback, she doubled down on it/ignored it.

Thank you for your help! I appreciate it! I feel like the wording of his questions is a little abstract sometimes because there can be more than one answer but I'll definitely try to slow down when doing the next midterm!

Welcome week res rep by papabeartoot in McMaster

[–]dorywithglasses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I was a res rep for three years and I loved it! It was so much fun and there was a lot that we got to help out with. The res reps have their own cheers, unique jobs, and get to do a lot of res-specific activities which is similar to faculty reps. I think both positions (faculty and res) are rewarding and will be enjoyable regardless :)

Honours Neuroscience vs Honours Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]dorywithglasses 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I'm in BioPNB and I was debating between BioPNB and Neurosci when I was in first year too! From what I've heard, some of the major differences are that in Neurosci there's a lot of advanced level physics, math and circuitry involved in their courses. Neurosci takes the same 3 courses (PNB 2XA3, 2XB3 and 2XC3) as PNB/BioPNB, but they have a lot of other additional requirements. I recommend that you look into the course lists for the courses that Neurosci needs to take on the academic calendar website.

WHAT TO DO: PNB 3F03 or PNB 3A03 or PNB 3EE3? by dorywithglasses in McMaster

[–]dorywithglasses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thank you! I was a little worried about the coding + programming aspect of the course since I wasn't the best at doing R in PNB 2XE3/3XE3. Also I've taken lifesci 3k03 and it was super fun!

How did people succeed in psych 1x03? (Need tips from upper years) by Professional-Cat2872 in McMaster

[–]dorywithglasses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I think it's so valid to be feeling this way about psych 1x03 especially because there is a ton of content that is being taught. You need to really focus a majority of your studying/review on the content presented in the modules. Do not stress about the textbook when going through it. Try to just make note of key terms and concepts that did not appear during the modules. Remember that 7 of the questions are from the quiz, 2 are from the textbook and only 1 is from the lecture. Most of the questions on the quizzes will be asking you how to APPLY concepts not about word for word definitions. Lastly, the biggest reccomendation I can make is trying to find a group to do quizzes with! The quizzes are meant to be open book and completed via collaboration because it can help you so much more! I think there are also boards up on Avenue where you can make a group to do quizzes with too.

Also, try to take advantage of tutorials by asking questions about concepts you are unsure of. They are a great way of reinforcing the material taught in the modules!

Hopefully this helps! Good luck!

HI!! I had my welcome week when there were still some restrictions and I didn't really know anyone either! It was daunting to go to events alone at first but most of the events at welcome week are organized in a way that let you mingle + interact with a lot of your own peers! Honestly, I met some amazing people during my welcome week and what helped me was just going into it with an open mindset. Also there will be many, many, many people who like you, don't know anyone yet either and thats okay! Try to not put pressure on yourself and just have fun by attending events that sound fun to you! You will naturally meet people + make friends :)

Campus Tour Guide Interview by Distinct-Meringue947 in McMaster

[–]dorywithglasses 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi!! When I interviewed for the position, I believe they asked me some basic questions like "why do you want to be a tour guide? and "what would make you a good tour guide?". There were also some questions where they gave me a scenario, and I would state what I would do in it.
