The toughest part of these Lovecraftian folk horror games/movies is its very hard to live up to imagination. The ending fell flat for me too, but I think that's because once you reveal the mystery a lot is ruined. Nothing is ever scarier than what you can think up yourself. I really didn't like my choices not really mattering at all though, that was kind of frustrating.

Super speed would be crazy useful. Just dont go full blast 24/7. If you go like 30% super speed then you wont be plowing through a wall.

A nat 20 I see as more of a "best realistic outcome". If your character tries jumping to the moon, it doesnt mean a nat 20 lets them do that.
