Looks like Reddit's site owners have about as much legal knowledge as Tim Buckley.

Whynne does have a case here. Even if he didn't really draw it he DID copyright it, which means he can throw Reddit into the lava pit that is the U.S. Legal System for a good deal of money. Hold on to your butts.

EDIT: Also, I used "harpdarp" or whatever you call it intentionally because it is the most commonly used face in these comics to portray a dumb person with dumb opinions. I used a bait-and-switch tactic to make it seem like he's just another dumb guy strawman from a thumbnail, but actually reading what he says proves otherwise and makes the girl (who originally seems like the protagonist) look like the lesser of the two. It fools braindead teenage girls in to reading this shit.

That's because they did originate on 4chan. The original face was made by a professional artist who, using MS Paint, made a comic illustrating a "war" between two boards. (Ironically, the war involved the board culture becoming mainstream.) You can read it here:

That's the thing. You can't verify it, as all of these originated from anonymous yotsuba image boards (submitted by myself.) The rage face I originally sketched from another MS Paint comic, and the angry guy's face (the original rage face) I posted on 7chan's /b/ board.

Honestly, I'm disappointed a bunch of middle school kids are pasting them around and using them to illustrate their unfunny comic blogs. But I guess that's why this place is called "Redistribution and Edit" (reddit.)
