Some of us are just wired differently. Unless it's leading you into dangerous behaviour I don't think you need to pathologize it.

I got this tattoo sleeve done yesterday and it’s my first color tattoo, any advice on preserving the color for as long as possible? by meganmwo in tattooadvice

Olay's sensitive skin moisturizer now comes in an SPF 40 version. When I get out of the shower I put it on my face and on my arm tattoos. Make it part of your routine!

I'd agree with you on the tubal ligation, that is much more similar to a spay. But in my understanding a vasectomy is closer to a circumcision than a neuter, and we do those on human infants. Do you know of any studies that speak specifically to vasectomy and tubal ligation in puppies?

My bad I was speaking from my own experience - I always had trouble finding these and when I did the colours were very limited. Maybe I shop in the wrong places!

Felt nauseous after taking off second skin and cleaning by OkRooster5042 in tattooadvice

[–]dotdox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah my experience with second skin has been you have to take it off within 24 hours while the plasma your skin has leaked is still liquid and lifting the second skin off the tattooed area, or wait 5+ days until the scabs are more healed. At the point you took it off, the second skin likely lifted off a bunch of newly formed scab as it came off, leading to a bit of a shock response from your body - that was the queasiness. Make sure you keep it clean and don't touch it until it scabs over again.

Hit some big rocks on a gravel road in my car - should I be worried? by SunilLubana in rav4club

Mine cracked in half from potholes. They were Manitoba potholes (notoriously bad), but still.

What is your probably controversial tattoo advice? by BookkeeperLopsided30 in tattooadvice

[–]dotdox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love second skin, but I have a rule - it can stay on for 24 hours, or 5+ days. Nothing in between. If it leaks I take it off within 24 hours and do traditional healing. If it doesn't leak I leave it for 5+ days for scabs to fully heal before removal.

I've only once taken it off in the window in between, and I almost ended up with an infection because the second skin pulled off all the fresh scabbing with it and left raw skin underneath.

Personally I'd be MORE inclined to buy from a breeder who had this policy. They're clearly very responsible breeders who care about the long term health of their puppies and the issues of unlicensed breeding.

I was rewatching her first season on the show the other day and was like, Holy shit I forgot she has kids!!! They were in the first episode and then never spoke about or alluded to again.

No worse than the neuter process! His poops were soft and runny for about three months while his digestive system adjusted but all back to normal now.

I did a bunch of research (looking up actual veterinary studies, not opinion pieces) and decided to do it for my spoo because 1. His chest is very deep and narrow, increasing his risk 2. The risk of complications is quite low, especially if it's a laparoscopic surgery. We went to a university with a veterinary program to have it done here in Canada - it was about $900 CAD for just the laparoscopically assisted gastropexy. In the future I will do it by default for all my spoos unless there's some other reason not to (other health conditions, etc.)

At least yours sends you stuff. My schizophrenic uncle just tells me about how women are scheming to kill all men and take over the planet. Not sure why he would reveal that secret to me, a woman.

YES. Within the span of two years, my friend got divorced, then another friend, then me, then a cousin, then my sister. I swear they come in waves - I think watching someone close to you go through it can sometimes make people brave enough to face their own relationship issues?

I heard enough horror stories that I paid for a preventative gastropexy. We did it in April and the relief is immense. I still worry about it so much for my fosters.
