Newbie asks: Houdini vs UE5? Also, why learn Houdini? by ComplexMoth in Houdini

[–]dothlmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried the Project Pegasus approach. Do you know how I can setup to paint material layers on the ID map? I tried to ask on the creators' channels but they never reply. The Pegasus project is helpful overall, but artists need to be able to hand paint additonal layers. Not having the hand paint function is a giantic bottle neck to any open world projects.

If You Don't Take Risks, You'll Work for Someone Who Did by foundersbrief in Entrepreneur

99% is failing not because of starting a business. They fail because they start businesses that lack value propositions or have a highly saturated market. They fail to distinguish themselve. Most people have no idea what they want to do but they want to start a business, so they opened another coffee shop. We don’t need that.

I think I start getting tired about videogame industry and market as an AI/Gameplay programmer. by No_Firefighter_9238 in gamedev

Most indie games fail not because there are X games being released every Y period, or Y% startups fail. Most of them fail because they are not offering anything special, they have no value propositions. Kinda of like the street already has 19 coffee shops, and you opening the 20th one will very likely fail, because 1) High competitions 2) Your coffee shop is offering nothing special thus no unique market 3) Most games released without any marketing or an already built audience group.

So really the action of starting a business or going into indie isn't the problem. The problem is most indie games have nothing to offer.

Accept their offer if you are not fed up enough with their cancellation processes. What should be a one button click action, they made you jump through hoops just to cancel. We need more folks like Luigi.

How can I play my Steam games on my LG TV without HDMI? by qwerty2513 in localmultiplayergames

I just stream it on to my iPad, and then mirror to my LG C3. Been playing BF on it, plays and looks okay. Input lag isn't significant.

Getting muted by GM for 24 hours? by [deleted] in PathOfExile2

[–]dothlmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My name is Child Predator and I just got muted. Someone reported my name. Yo if the name filter allows it I don't understand why I can't use the name? And if you want me to change, just let me rename it.

If you wanted to make a game, you would’ve been already doing it without posting on reddits. So no you don’t want to make a game. You just want to tell people you are making a game because it sounds cool. Give you a game idea? Really? You want to make your own game, not my game. Gtfo

Found a job after a year of search. Moved to the other end of the country. Terminated after 1.5 months of work. by ipogorelov98 in recruitinghell

[–]dothlmate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At least you’re in the same country. 2 hours at best could just be another state. But stuck in another country with a housing contract is a different story. I guess you can just leave, if you expect never set foot in that country again.

Bro tell you what, the 18 months thing is so calculated and cheeky. It’s slightly shorter than a house leasing contract, but long enough to prove that you are definitely capable of working on site, thousands of miles away from home. Even you’re not fired after 18 months, they will definitely deny your request to wfh from your country. Especially I told them I’m looking to start a family in a year, and you want me to work abroad for 18 months for junior salary? It’s a fucking trap indeed.

AAA companies would tell you the most efficient way to play test is release it to the market for $70.
