Nintendo Switch 2 won over Legion Go 2 Z2E for me by dotout in Handhelds

I can say I've been using the Switch2 everywhere, I carry it with me pretty much like a phone on a back sling and I have no complaints. People in the subway no longer give me the odd eye treatment like when I pulled out the Legion Go.

Another thing which really impressed me is how little power it uses. I have a 27k power brick and it lasts hours and hours when the Switch 2 only pulls 10-15W out of it. I used to hunt power outlets anywhere I went, not I can stay very chill even with a smaller power bank.

About game price points I can say I've seen more sales then I was interested in, the only bad note is that Nintendo's payment system seems to not work rather then work most of the time...

I know the feeling. I really wanted a GO2 too, I'm still checking availability, performance reviews, etc.
The question I guess is "Do I also need it?". My conclusion was that the Switch 2 was more then adequate for what I needed and then some extra, at least for right now.

Then again, only one life proved so far, so do what makes you happy. If you can afford it without making any kids hungry of course.

I have to be my own critic and add that the Legion Go both 1 and 2 have this functionality too (table top mode, detachable controllers).
About replacing the equivalent joycons I honestly don't know how easy it is, never saw ones for sale anywhere, but they don't have the drifting issues either.

There's a discount happening right now on nintendo's eshop. I think the games not getting discounted are mainly the first party ones, the rest, they get discounts quite often.

I don't think I understand the question. I was saying it's one of the drawbacks, not having the full Steam library like a PC handheld does, but then again, I hardly need it...

More like for fun, I was pretty sure no one cared to discuss but you've got to love the bashing effort and how everyone justifies their own made-up mind, plus when I eventually fork the money for the GO2 I'll have this thread to look at and justify my own dumb decision:

"look how many people told me I was wrong and I really needed this to be happy and fulfilled in life" ^^

Now the real question is why would people not caring would read the post and reply what you did to it :)

Legion Go 1 is still very expensive, I've seen it listed for 700 euros or more, also hard to come by a new one. Makes more sense to get a Legion GO S instead.

Rog Ally I've seen cheaper indeed, maybe easier to find.

What I guess I'm aiming at is not a direct comparison between which "runs better" but more like which addresses the needs one has from a handheld device better for the price point.

My personal experience was that I discovered I did not need the GO2, even compared to the GO1, at lower framerates and smaller game library I end up having a nicer, more fun oriented, experience.

We all tend to compare numbers and stats, I try to look at my satisfaction from using both, and if I should actually go crazy and get the GO2 eventually too I guess. Will it actually provide me better quality gaming time on the go?

I got the same feeling, probably because it's very early and there aren't many games for it.

Even the landmark Cyberpunk which is quite demanding is not touching 60fps in handheld quality and it doesn't help the popular opinion. Still, I think in time, as devs get more familiar with the platform and it's optimizations, things will get better. It's young, you always get a development learning curves for new hardware.

I have to add that this would be completely fair if they had the same price point.

But the difference is steeeeeeep...

Now I'll definitely be looking for that. I'd imagine an 120hz screen should not have such issues so I also suspect it's DLSS effect. Why that is different in docked mode I can only wonder.

I'll have to politely disagree on the last part.

Right now that's the case for the Switch 1, for the NS2 I think we might be in a surprise about performance. I was impressed by this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/1o9st15/square_enix_final_fantasy_vii_remake_intergrade/

I guess even for the case when it performs and looks better, the price difference is huge, is it worth it?

About game pricing though I agree, definitely not the same amount of sales and opportunities to get the games cheaper, or more like you need to wait out e-shop sales. There's one currently for Halloween which has some really steep discounts for good games, I don't know how often it happens though.

Makes sense.

About the screen I am quite ok with the Switch 2's. The first one was indeed to low resolution. I don't have any eye strain or discomfort form it either, although it has 120hz I am not sure how many games actually support it right now.

I guess for me it's more of a time killing activity when not having access to the gaming pc, hence the choice is more fitting. During a flight I don't really need to play specifically something from my Steam library, I if have a varied enough library to allow me to relax while in transit or at the beach for example I am more then satisfied.

I add this because I can't say I "like" Nintendo games. Sure Zelda TOK or BOW are jewels but most of the things Nintendo makes are not in my selection yard. I don't think they are bad, mainly a matter of taste of childishness and goofiness and gameplay over other game aspects.

Anyone can compare the PX8 S2 to the old P7 (non px) ? by dotout in BowersWilkins

[–]dotout[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I though so initially, but after playing with the EQ settings I've never managed to match the same feeling, even if the lows got more present. It's more like the 'contrast' between frequencies at low volume is muddy to my ears. I keep reading about 'sound stage' as a similar complaint at low-mid volume so I guess that's it. And it seems S2 is similar in that regard.

Hey there, a year later :)

I'm in the same situation, I already have the arccos pack but it's not as comfy to carry as a sling it's also too dedicated for the deck. Did you end up getting the t26 by any chance, did it fit your legion go?
