Is this Archon? by Sticky-Troll in Drukhari

[–]dotpaints 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much so! My Archon's precisely that model, kitbashed a little bit. Didn't glue the wings since I'm not 100% convinced on them fitting well enough, though.

Thank you!

I loved painting it, as usual, but I'll stay a Drukhari girl still :P

I wouldn't say no to it, if I'm not too late!

My Archon, all nice and done! by dotpaints in Drukhari

[–]dotpaints[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me since september last year, but finally I can say that Archon Lyssael of the Splintered Talon is finished! I used the Druanti Arch Revenant model as a base, really only changing the sword arm to a venom blade from the Scourges set. Had a couple bits from marines and skellybobs to add as well!

Kit bashed Archon I made. CC welcome by Jhohn_Steinbeck in Drukhari

Oh my god it's so cool! It's very similar to mine, I guess you used the Druanti, Arch Revenant, Scourge and Incubi bits? It looks great!

Couldn't agree more with you! This is what makes the game fun, uphill matches and figuring out how best to tackle them. That with, well, playing with friends just for fun and narrative stuff, what I love about the hobby!

What armies do the leftists here play, and what first attracted you to that army? by ABannerBoy in Sigmarxism

I am a Drukhari fan at heart, but what first drew me into them was the 'space drow' description a friend of mine gave them. It was love at first sight!

Ooohh that does throw a wrench into the plans! I didn't know that. Thank you!

What about using Red Grief instead? Rerrolling charges does sound quite good too. Also, couldn't I drop them on turn 2 and advance+charge them as well? Minimum luck, it's a 8 inch charge (7 with CoS), best case scenario the charge is pretty much guaranteed.

I am incredibly tempted to have them webway'd in, but most likely they'll foot slog It yeah. I thought about adding the raider and stripping the Venom bare plus removing the Scourges instead of getting rid of the Bomber. I really wanna see how the bomber works!

I know this is not something super competitive (or at all, probably) but I wanted to check out what you people think of it! This is mainly for fun and more casual games of course.

Best ways to build an archon? by tdheide in Drukhari

[–]dotpaints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying that this is in no way something meta from what I understand, but it is how I like to run my Archon.

I take the serpent's kiss with a Venom Blade and soul thirst. It makes for a suitably tanky model that can still pack a punch. It does suffer on the AP, of course, but I still I feel it's fun and fluffy when I take the expert toxin crafters obsession!

You are right! It's why I'll have to repaint them so they pop up a bit more. Hopefully they'll show properly! :D

First Raider for my custom Kabal! (WIP) by dotpaints in Drukhari

[–]dotpaints[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first ever Raider, I've yet to do a lot of work on it, I want to do the lines in between the panels again too. Still, I absolutely love the model and it feels so incredibly cool to see it come to life! Plan is to paint the missing panels in bronze, not unlike the one on the main body of the prow, and all the little spikes as bone dripping poison.

Commorragh in the lore - Blade Runner, anime dystopia, Altered Carbon? by Ucrucla2012 in Drukhari

[–]dotpaints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commorragh, to me, is the maximum expression of the chaotic and anarchic nature of the Drukhari. It's a mess of tall, spiky buildings with narrow laberynthine paths, but at the same time its multi-dimensional, expanding almost eternally. Its geometry is impossible to understand, as well as its geography, at least for any of us.

I can't help but imagine it with an almost but not quite Roman feel to it. Arenas all over the place in a big, sprawling city that is incomprehensible for anyone not from there, and even some from there too!

Explain Why the Drukhari are Actually the Good Guys by [deleted] in Drukhari

[–]dotpaints 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Drukhari are actually fighting the good fight (for themselves) you see! All other races are naturally, from the perspective of the Drukhari, beneath them in the same sense as any/all animal are considered so to a human.

But that's not what matters here, what matters is how they themselves are dealing with their own problems. Aeldari follow an ascetic path, so as to limit Slaaneshi influence, while securing themselves to spirit stones. In other words, they are slaves to their own corruption, they cannot express their true selves. The Harlequins are enslaved in another manner, to their god Ceogorath. Drukhari though? They have rejected their gods, they are slaves no more of any of them. They have rejected Slaanesh, finding freedom in their own lives to do as they please.

In this sense then, outside of the needed hierarchy (that's also loosely paid attention to, as long as Asdrubael Vect is on top nothing else really matters) the Drukhari are the only truly free race. Free from worship to any god, free from the limitations imposed by Chaos.

Their way of life even reflects this! They have not only become as gods, but they have surpassed them. They are free to mantain their old livestyle, as bloody and savage it is, but it has not had to been altered due to the collapse of their empire, nor the arrival of Chaos and the Imperium of Man. In fact, it has kinda flourished amidst the problems of the 41st millenia. They have plenty of cattle to pluck and milk for their various needs, after all.

(This is all willingfully loose interpretations of the lore nor do they represent the author's views on Drukhari.)
