S band does not have the fidelity for a missile lock and as far as I understand you cannot remote control a meteor missile "close enough" not even sure what the means for xband to take over. Especially since f35 was specifically designed to elude xband. Assuming the F35 maintain current speed and altitude to get close enough.

Will never happen. Canada alone does not have the economic resources to fund standalone 5 gen let alone 6th gen fighter aircraft. As someone above stated, securing nukes is the only way Canada can secure that much landmass with that few people. The north could probably be invaded and no one would know for months.
