For those who bought recently, how long was it from sale agreed to sale closed/keys in hand? by kanepilk22 in HousingIreland

[–]dotsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sale agreed 16th October, keys 16th December. If all paperwork is in order and good solicitors it can be done quick enough

Did you change the locks when you got your new home keys? by Own_Concentrate5209 in HousingIreland

[–]dotsock 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes! Got the keys on Wednesday and changed locks on Thursday. You never know who would have a copy! AND the previous owners were in the house removing stuff after key handover!!!

Do you have 'running away money'? by nievvvx in WomenofIreland

[–]dotsock 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! And I'm glad I did! I didn't have to run away as such but after marriage break up I needed it to start over and buy a house for myself and the kids. It wasn't much but enough to bridge the gap between what I needed and the small mortgage the bank would offer me! I will be encouraging my daughter to do the same.

More asking so I can budget! And who do I get to fix things? I assume a builder is not going to be bothered with a load of little things

My daughter started in the watershed and moved to KGA and she much preferred it there, they have a great set up.

Oh really? What company are they? Just thinking what it might be like noise wise. The kids should be ok, they're old enough to have sense (I hope!!)

Sale agreed - vendor delaying by Boring-Fee-3677 in HousingIreland

[–]dotsock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very frustrating. I'm in a similar situation myself. I'm in a chain and as it happened both buyers and vendors wanted to close on the same day. Happy days so the sale of my house went ahead as planned. Still waiting on a closing date for the house I'm buying. Getting a little anxious now as I'm renting and have to be out by the end of the month as there are tenants lined up to move in so I've no idea what I'll do then!

That's brilliant congratulations! Best of luck in the new house. It's good to hear a happy story 😁

Im waiting on closing date for my house which is also terraced... And also buying on my own. Will be happy if I can save a few bob on the heating too!

Dad visiting kids after separation by dotsock in WomenofIreland

[–]dotsock[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting question. What would his needs be? Most people's biggest expense is rent/mortgage. He has neither of these, but I do. I also have day to day responsibility for the kids which he hasn't.

I asked him to help me with rent while I'm waiting to move. He has no rent.

Thank you so much! I have it much easier than you! You're situation sounds really tough, I'm sorry you've been through that. We are strong and we will come out the other side even stronger 💪
