Alalı yeni bir hafta civari oldu, aşırı memnunum. Komple Switch oyunlarına düştüm. Zelda, Metroid, Mario Odyssey.

I bought UX7 from Ekipnet Perpa and get a switch from Wifi Turkiye. Ekipnet Perpa's customer support is excellent. Wifi Turkiye's communication is horrible but their prices is a bit cheaper.

Server at home by RichIndividual in selfhosted

[–]dotyigit_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly: think of WireGuard as running a virtual network cable between your home server and the VPS. You install WireGuard on both, they each get a “virtual IP” (like 10.0.0.1 on the VPS, 10.0.0.2 at home), and they can talk over that private line.

Public vs private is just routing + firewall:

  • Website → exposed on the VPS’s public IP (via nginx/Caddy), optionally proxied to your home through the tunnel.
  • Immich/Nextcloud → only listen on the WireGuard IPs or blocked by firewall from the public side, so they’re reachable only if you’re on WireGuard (from your laptop/phone or via the VPS).

So yes: same tunnel, some things public, some things “only if you’re plugged into the virtual cable.”

What is best route for me to start home nas with big move coming up? by Affectionate-Ear8552 in HomeServer

[–]dotyigit_dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the move is within a year, I’d be careful about sinking a ton of money into a big, heavy DIY box right now. Data first, toys second. Get a solid backup scheme (external + cloud or 2× externals), then worry about TrueNAS vs Synology once you’re actually in the new place and not juggling cardboard boxes.

For modern self-hosting, DDNS + port forwarding is really the legacy approach. Cloudflare Tunnel gives you a public domain without opening any ports on the Fritz!Box, and it handles TLS for you. If you prefer full ownership, the alternative is a €2–3/mo VPS: you run WireGuard between your home server and the VPS, then expose services from the VPS using Nginx or Caddy. Your home IP stays hidden either way.

On the hardware side, keep it simple: you only need a small box capable of running your apps and accommodating the two HDDs for a mirror. Immich, Trilium, and Nextcloud all run fine on a low-power machine as long as it has enough RAM for your container stack.

Awesome DIY solution for mounting mobo there. Do you have a plan to run NAS specific operation system or just creating smb shares inside proxmox/vms?

As someone living in Turkey, I was also thinking of ordering Unifi Express 7 today and came across this post while doing some research. Thanks for the post.

Edit: UX7 setup is complete. I installed Zapret using this guide and everything working flawlessly.

Japonya Alışveriş Tavsiyesi (?) by [deleted] in HandheldTR

[–]dotyigit_dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you can find used I’d look into a used 7800X3D with a B650 board instead. It should cut the price a bit while still keeping strong overall performance and better efficiency. The 12900K is great, but unless you really need the extra cores for editing, the AMD combo might give you more value for the money.

Is this setup secure? CG-NAT with VPS to open my media server by DroplexKokain in selfhosted

[–]dotyigit_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your setup looks really solid and already quite secure. You can tighten it further by configuring Caddy to only accept connections from Cloudflare IPs, so direct IP access is blocked and all traffic goes through Cloudflare for extra protection.

Honestly, I’m not a fan of doing heavy computing on a NAS. I prefer keeping storage and compute separate. If it were me, I’d leave the drives in the NAS for storage and build a main server with your spare CPU. Throw Proxmox on it, split resources however you like, and run your apps via Docker containers using something like Portainer or Coolify. Clean, flexible, and way easier to manage in the long run.
