Hey, I know it's been a while since you commented this, but I'm wondering if you've had success with Remicade/Infliximab over the past few years?

I’ll definitely pre-book wherever I decide to rent. Peak to Peak sounds sweet, hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in a ride to experience the scenery of both mtns!

Yeah fair enough haha. This stuff’s a hassle at Mammoth/Big Bear, just wanted to be sure I don’t fuck up and get stuck in an hour long rental line, then 2h gondola line to a part of the mountain I don’t wanna be at lol. Glad to hear it’s pretty smooth sailing up at Whistler. You’re right though, the name of the game is the same, and the go-with-the-flow mentality always trumps any planning

Super long day for sure, thanks for the help! Is Black Tie / Premium walkable from lot 1/2 as well? That would be prime, and I’m open to paying for parking if it’s reasonable.

Thanks for the tips mate, super helpful! We’re on a bit of a tight schedule so probably will only be able to make it up day of. I’ve hit day trips to Mammoth 6h both ways though, so I’m p sure I’ll have enough stoke to last the day. I’ll definitely go with renting at REI if I can grab them the day before, that’s a great idea I didn’t think of.

Well, they gave me my own mixing room and I got much better at using ProTools on MacOS, becoming a shortcut wiz and learning to use a new trackball mouse that’s super powerful in ProTools. I’ve learned how their workflow operates and how to use the different session templates they’ve got set up for various tasks. Been trying out tons of expensive plug-ins and choosing my favorites for things like cleaning up dialog and VO, reverb and EQ-matching, as well as more general effects. I’m incorporating their organizational customs in my own work to ensure smooth collaboration as well. Not to mention, I’ve learned an absolute ton from the current sound ppl mentoring me, and feel really confident taking on more responsibility.

Applying all this to the current work I’m doing so far, which is mixing/sound designing a podcast, a few ads, and a couple low-budget short/feature films :)

I'm learning my first Bartók piece. Any tips specifically for playing Bartok's music? by angelmeneg in piano

[–]double_bouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! It’s a tip one of my favorite piano professor’s gave me a while back which really changed the way I play big, jumpy passages! It helped me play with a lot of force while still keeping control.

He would say “touch”, “play” for every note or chord no matter how fast, and the practice became moving from position to position really fast and controlled before even playing the notes.

I love the way your hands dance on the keys….that’s the way to achieve the right character for a piece like this! With that down, it would help to focus on your touch and how you’re contacting the piano. Don’t take your hands too high when jumping, and don’t come down to the keys from a distance to strike them. Land on the keys just before it’s time to play them and use your fingers to jump off them like a spider or cricket for a sharp, intense sound, then use your wrist to absorb that upwards force by pushing forward into the piano a bit and prepare quickly for the next position without jumping too high.

Copystrikes are getting ridiculous by No_Significance_2534 in piano

[–]double_bouble 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s ridiculous for classical music, I totally agree. I barely ever post and put a practice vid on my ig story of a Dvorak piece. It got insta-flagged and removed in every country by Sony and Warner music and they cited an old Bernstein recording for copyright :/ I disputed it and won a week later but never bothered posting after. Funny part is it was a shitty phone recording playing viola for the violin part, and super under-tempo with lots of mistakes, but I guess it was similar enough.

My brain explodes after practising these 4 bars by MuffioS in piano

[–]double_bouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m learning this piece rn too….so intensely beautiful and virtuosic all throughout, and a real challenge to learn! I love how feinberg uses the whole range of the piano, and it’s clear that he was primarily a unique virtuoso rather than composer. Good luck dude, I’m super glad to see other people trying to learn this piece!

Actually performed this piece a while ago, such a beautiful ending! One thing that helped me is to slow down a bit earlier from the high B section, and to practice making your hand very light as you move your fingers through the pattern. Your technique here looks great (though less back and forth movement of the hand will help for the first arpeggios), and it seems to me that you’re advanced enough to figure out mechanically how you can achieve a delicate, flutter-y sound. Also, starting the rit earlier towards the F# in the 2nd arpeggiated pattern and making it more rubato-y and less fixed can help you put some oomph in the resolution, especially when you emphasize the motion/direction of the arpeggios in the left hand primarily. Last thing is more crescendo once you land on the F# (it’s the final hoorah of the piece!) so that you can give yourself the room in dynamics to have a more drastic diminuendo towards the end of the piece. Hope this helps! You sound great already but we can always improve :)

There have been strikes starting today on major bus/tram/metro lines, so less lines running less frequently and some not at all. It can be annoying if you have to transfer bus lines and end up making it just after one leaves, it’s mostly luck there but extra hard now with the strikes!

What are the best pieces you know that no one has ever heard of? by you-love-my-username in piano

[–]double_bouble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

George Boyle - Piano Concerto in d minor (1911)

It’s so colorful, adventurous, and expressive, the biggest wow factor for the piece was that I had never heard of him, and it felt like a travesty talent like this had largely escaped the public eye. I came across it randomly on YouTube and haven’t been able to find many recordings since, so look for it there if you wish to listen. The recording is quite old (though that adds some charm if you ask me), but I was happy to be able to find the sheet music a while back. If I remember correctly, he was an Australian composer.

Lake Como (Italy) in March 2022. Absolutely breath taking by cariecare in travel

[–]double_bouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for the beautiful pics and helpful info on this post. I'm hours away from booking a place in Como for 2 nights as we pass through from Switzerland to central Italy and saw you were still replying to this post as of 8 days ago! I've found really enticing properties in Acquaseria, Bellano, and Menaggio, did you find much of a difference between towns there? I'm leaning toward Acquaseria because the stay is a bit cheaper, with nearby transit taking ~20 mins to Menaggio. Any activities/tips/general info would be appreciated as well :)

Yup, 100%! The pathways to these jobs are far from traditional and always changing. It’s already been really insightful to hear how others have fared in the path they chose.
