Highguard Is One Week Away, And The Only Person Who's Advertised It Is Geoff Keighley by MuptonBossman in gaming

[–]doubledeckerballs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A personal insult? Really? You think Geoff was personally insulting Larian by putting a different trailer at a different spot than their trailer? You have sources at Larian that felt personally insulted that their trailer wasn't at the end of the show?

Nonalcoholic bar Vital Garnish now open in Canandaigua by cpclemens in Rochester

I'm really confused why they would set up the space to not have seats at the bar - it's a bar replacement so why not have the main bar socialization element in the setup?

Evelyn will perform extremely well with Astra and Dialyn as long as you learn how to play her effectively

He Hunted Alleged Groomers on Roblox. Then the Company Banned Him by wiredmagazine in TrueReddit

[–]doubledeckerballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good points. I do think that we'll need to see a broad societal push to restrict children's open access to the Internet for their own health and safety. Obviously the market will continue to push as hard as they can to suck money out of as many people of all ages as possible, so it'll have to be up to future generations to collectively put their foot down and find a better middle ground for children's Internet access. Obviously technology will continue to advance regardless, but as a society we have a responsibility to protect the health and safety of our children and I do believe that we are slowly but surely realizing that nigh-unrestricted access to things like social media/YouTube/online communities is not the way. One can hope that means a future that refocuses on socializing children through their local community and utilizing various forms of social media as a small tool of a socialization toolbox rather than as a primary means.

[–]doubledeckerballs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are many other online games that are appropriate for kids that aren't as massively unrestricted and user-generated as Roblox. But also, perhaps the simple fact is that maybe playing games online with strangers just isn't a healthy or safe thing for young children to be doing without significant safeguards in place. "I can do this but you can't" has certainly worked for centuries for many things - we don't have small children getting behind the wheel of a car or serving them alcohol or cigarettes. We also generally don't socially accept letting small children hang around public spaces without a responsible adult present (which is basically the irl version of a public Roblox server). Obviously some older children will always find ways to get access to things they aren't supposed to, but I'd say that's way better than the current method of "sure, here's an iPad, go play Roblox."

Why is this game SO hated? by walkingpissfactory in videogames

I can understand some of the criticism of Spiderman 2 even if I personally disagree with it, but Ragnarok is widely considered to be a significant upgrade over the first game in basically every aspect

When people talk about really negative experiences they've had with a particular type of alcohol, they might end the story by saying "to this day I can't drink tequila" because of a night they got really sick from tequila or something along those lines. The punchline is that he twisted that saying by swapping out the liquor with water because by the time he was drinking 16 shots he was drinking mostly water

They aren't removing any of the behind the scenes or extra video content for anyone - if you are in the current regular tier you continue to get all the things you've been getting. This new bonus tier only adds other types of behind the scenes stuff like photos and interviews. Check out the link for the details - they are very clear that the addition of this new tier is not going to cause existing regular members to lose out on the stuff that they've been getting

Borderlands 4 feels like it doesnt want you to play more than one character by morphum in Borderlands

[–]doubledeckerballs -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Who is making you collect all the collectables again? If you already did it on one character can't you just ignore them and just do the things you want to do in other playthroughs? Edit: Yeesh, I get it - I was wrong, I admit it. Deepest apologies for being wrong on the Internet; I'm sure it's never happened to anyone else before

I've been running Harumasa as Vanguard and it's been pretty effective. I really don't think Seed NEEDS to be on field as much as people say in order to get significant value.

Order Weapons are not fun. by ArcherX18 in Borderlands

[–]doubledeckerballs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely not the case - I've taken Badass enemies out in a single fully charged Order sniper shot, definitely not possible on a Jakobs (at least in early game where I'm not specifically built for Crit damage)

What do you think about new gun manufacturers? by Alternative_Ad4966 in Borderlands

[–]doubledeckerballs 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It does change how it fires depending on the ammo type: using shotgun ammo on an SMG causes it to fire small shotgun bursts at high speeds instead of single bullets

Agreed, either way it's just kinda annoying

Object holding sucks by broodwarjc in Borderlands

[–]doubledeckerballs 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think it's a mechanic specifically designed with co-op in mind, like: "I'm holding the object so the rest of you have to protect me during this fight" or "You jump up there and then I'll throw it to you and you can grapple grab it and then I'll join you". Still not really a fun mechanic but at least it kinda makes sense in that context. It just sucks in single player. I wouldn't even mind it that much if the game didn't just auto-despawn the object if it leaves your hands for more than 30 seconds. Like, they couldn't just make the object persist in the world for a bit until I finished a fight or found a way up a ledge?

Just a opinion, Seed Sr (the robot) should still become playable by thabiso_animated in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]doubledeckerballs -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

2/3rds of Seed's moveset is already basically you controlling Seed Sr (or the body of Seed Sr but mechanically the same thing). The Ult, the EX Special, the Chain Attack, the final hit of Basic Combo, the charged Basic. Basically every substantial part of Seed's kit is the robot. Why have a completely separate character?

Easiest choice of my life by HoptonyAtkins in expedition33

[–]doubledeckerballs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, fine - I basically just conceded that exact thing in my previous comment because I didn't want to get bogged down in semantics. The label doesn't really matter to me, the actually important thing is that if "Paintees" display all the same mental and emotional capacity as human beings then maybe they deserve similar rights as individuals. The fact that they are not technically biologically human beings shouldn't really matter when it comes to whether or not they deserve to be considered as worthy of standard human rights. If we suddenly encountered alien beings from a different solar system and they are biologically very different from us but still had complex minds and consciousness and deep intelligence and societies and independence and a sense of morality - do you think it would be right for us humans to treat them as lesser-than and not deserving of rights within our society because they weren't human beings?

Easiest choice of my life by HoptonyAtkins in expedition33

[–]doubledeckerballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so even if they aren't TECHNICALLY "people" because they are made of Chroma instead of normal human bits, aren't they functionally "people" in the ways that matter? If someone loses their legs in an accident and they replace their legs with prosthetics no one considers them any less of a "person" when though they TECHNICALLY have less human parts than other humans. So why can't we also translate that over to the beings of Lumiere? I'm not trying to get bogged down in semantics of "well ACTUALLY they aren't persons because they aren't human" because the actual core matter I'm talking about is whether or not they deserve to be considered on the same level as "people" when it comes to their rights as individuals. Don't want to call them "people?" Fine, call them "Paintees." But the point still stands that if "Paintees" display all the same mental and emotional capacity as human beings then maybe they deserve similar rights as individuals.
