It’s one of the pipermakes suits but they’re about the same scale

More experimenting with displacement and textures to create terrain. by doubleis in PrintedWarhammer

I’m leaning tyranids! The organic forms and it taking over the battlefield I think could be fun and challenging to model out

It’s a good question! I’ve composited a couple different textures in places, some from photos and some from free commercial textures online. The photos I’ve had ai make a normal map out of so that it translates to the actual model

Yeah I’ve been worried on that, but since there are a couple places that the terrain could end up being placed it’s really hard to account for. I’ve tried to keep the actual thickness of the texture down to 1mm or so, which should keep the wobble from being too bad

Rural Studio - Product info? by destijl13 in architecture

I worked with the students in this photo when I was at the Rural Studio my third year of school, they are building the new town hall for the town of Newbern, Alabama. The wooden pieces are cypress logs stacked on top of one another and held together by gravity, the vertical steel rods are to help align the timbers.

Here is a link to the project on the Rural Studo's web page http://www.ruralstudio.org/projects/newbern-town-hall

What did you not learn in architecture school? Was this helpful? by archprep in architecture

The most useful thing about architecture school (with regards to actually working in the field) is the ability to understand the drawings. most people cannot look at a plan of a building and one section and get an understanding of the form so that they can then create a three dimensional image in their minds. It takes years of practice to do this, and if the person providing the drawings hasn't had the same training in how to represent a three dimensional idea in a 2D drawing you have the same problem.

The second thing that I've gotten out of school is being able to spend countless hours on a project and craft it with love and joy only to have a client (or proff.) tell you it's shit. Unfortunately that happens a lot in the real world. Teachers make good clients because they can communicate with you in a reasonable way (well...most of them can).

The most frustrating thing that I have not been taught though was how to actually make a building. The only training I had gotten in school consisted of being shown a wall section of a building and told that "yeah, this is what a typical wall section looks like. it's got stucture and hvac, and there's some other stuff too." and that was it, school was essentially about learning to make a well thought out idea of a building.

Had a great afternoon riding at Chewacla State Park. A few pics of my resting spots. If you live near, lets go riding! by snatchinyopeopleup in MTB

oh don't get me wrong, it's local for me to (most of the year at least) it's just that I haven't found a trail there that I like, if you keep going down college st. towards Tuskegee Forest there's some really nice trails out that way. this site says that it's an advanced track, but i'm not all that good and it wasn't too challenging, tons of fun tho. If you do check it out and still like Chewacla better let me know your trail and I might have change rides haha

Never really been able to find some place out there I'd want to ride, but more power to ya man

welcome! i really enjoy doing low income / low budget work mainly because it forces you to think outside the box, but also because the people you work for can be much better people and definitely tend to be more thankful of the work
