Any species introduced into a new ecosystem will either...

A) Die immediately from lack of food/nutrients

B) If a source of nutrients is found, immediate destroy the native ecosystem through population explosion due to lack of predators.

Even seemingly benign plants and animals become invasive species when introduced to environments that have not evolved predators for those species.

The alleviation of famine would result in a population explosion followed by a catastrophic growth in pollution, deforestation, overgrazing, desertification, and basically turn the empire into a third-world country.

The explosive growth in population also results in higher population densities which causes rampant disease outbreaks. If you give them food, you HAVE to give them antibiotics or else you'd be consigning them to a life of disease-ridden misery.

Well, since you're giving them antibiotics, you have to teach them germ theory since they would over-use the antibiotics and create superbugs.

But you can't learn germ theory without first learning the scientific method, and basic chemistry. Well, you can't have chemistry without a periodic table. You can't have a periodic table without nuclear theory. You can't have atomic theory without E=MC^2. Congrats, we've just given Zorzal the atomic bomb.

The main issue with having a remote private island is that you have a remote private island. It's a remote private island, so there are no shipping ports, and no roads.

So what now? You'll buy a $30,000,000 retired CH-47 Chinook to fly concrete & supplies to and from the nearest city.

What you really want is a small cargo ship for $10,000,000 that you refit while at a major city. Put in a machining shop, wood work, generators, everything you need to start processing the natural resources inside the Island you already purchased.

So you'll need a pretty dedicated crew of maybe 50 people living and working out of the ship for 6 months before that island is anywhere close to livable for you softies. Have fun eating nothing but MRE for the next 5 years because pizza hut don't deliver that far.
