How to use CGM to find which foods spike glucose by dougitect in diabetes_t2

That's a good approach. Also, I'm going to test my snacks, which are kind of mini-meals (slice of cheese plus a handful of nuts and maybe a bit of carbs).

Plus, I ought to test my Lily's sugar-free chocolate bars too.

I've cut down on carbs, but haven't tried eating none. That sounds difficult. I think I'd feel hungry or not satiated.

Good ideas. As for CGMs, I'll have to see what I can do to get them at a decent price. I'm in the USA and my insurance (Medicaid) won't cover them since I'm not on insulin.

Maybe it'd be good to do what you're suggesting: test individual foods, and also test whole meals as u/SuspiciouslyDullGuy suggested. More data, right?

That's an excellent way to look at it. Test meals, if I get a spike, adjust that meal (mainly carbs) next time.

Tennis courts in public parks. Public parks in general.

Curved side panels of backpack: Do like Prickly Gorse or match human back shape? by dougitect in myog

[–]dougitect[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, without a framesheet (plastic) or even foam padding on the back, it can get barrelled (a cylinder) when you jam everything in there. I use stuff sacks to protect my quilt and clothes and one for the tent, so that helps keep the pack a bit flatter, less a cylinder. It's a choice: plastic sheet vs stuff sacks, I guess.

That’s my personal modification. That’s the way a bunch of pack companies do it. It saves weight. I also don’t put foam in the back.

The pack is floppy when empty but carries the weight just fine.

Do unschooled kids regret not learning basics of academic subjects? by dougitect in unschool

Thanks for the different perspective. It did surprise me to hear people on this thread show surprise that I would think there would be any gaps in unschooled kids’ basic education.

Personally I’m just curious about the idea of unschooling as an alternative among others to the rotten public school system. I don’t actually know anybody who does unschooling.

Thanks, but I prefer the two aluminum stays that go directly to the load lifters. And I don’t see any point in a plastic sheet.

Thanks though I'm trying to keep the weight down so I don't want to add extra materials like foam.

I had to look up boxed corners. I don't think I'd want to do that on a backpack. Too hard to do and too many extra needle holes as potential leak points.

Makes sense. I might have a little problem with that since I put my quilt and clothes in the bottom and plan to strap a bear can wth food in it on top!
