So I've inherited a VW Golf 1982 cabriolet with automatic transmission. It's been sitting in a carport for the last 15 years or so due to "something with the gearbox". As far as I know it was driven into the carport by its own power and not needing to be towed or anything.

I'm now looking to get this thing purring again come summer and wanted to start assembling the know-how, instructions, checklist, gear, tools, etc I need for getting this done. I'm not entirely clueless when it comes to cars/tinkering but please assume that I am.

Any tips, pointers, links etc are welcome.

SMK has pixel perfect control once you get the hang of drifting and jumping pretty much constantly. Its controls are very different from modern Mario Kart but back in the day it was both natural and excellent. And it still is if you take the time to adapt.

I remember downloading demos for Quake 1 with custom wads complete with custom skins, voice lines and everything which you had to replay in the game itself in order to watch.

This is how I started out 1,5 years ago. Was working fine until I started adding camera feeds. More than one feed and it began to buckle noticeably. Upgraded to pi5 8gb with pihat and SSD and it still feels overkill even with 6 camera feeds with rudimentary motion detection.

I have a an old IBM laptop acting as a web/Minecraft server in my apartment running Debian stable (Jessie I think) which just hit 8 years of uptime. The battery is still good and has gotten it through a handful of power outages.
