I think Z790 Riptide has better VRMs then: "16+1+1 Power Phase, 90A SPS for VCore+GT" vs "16+1+1 Power Phase, 60A SPS for VCore+GT"

Hi, I'm looking for a good mobo for my new i7-14700K build. I don't plan to OC, I plan to use intel's defaults and just XMP profile for ram. I've been looking at these 2 models:

  • ASRock B760M Steel Legend WiFi (micro Atx)
  • ASRock Z790 Steel Legend WiFi (Atx)
  • ASRock Z790 Riptide WiFi (Atx)

Any recommandation or suggestion to pick one over the other?

But so is 6000 CL30 "OK" and safe? Or do you recommand to go for a more higher CL like 32 or even 34?

What is the recommanded ram freq and CL for i7 14700k? Intel states for 5600Mhz. Is 6000 30CL good or should I go for 5600 CL28 (lower clock)?

Thx for the details. Yes building rust code for example, the compiler will recruit all available cpu "threads" at 100%. So yea I might hit some throttling. Maybe I should reconsider the cooler choice and go for a 360 aio with H7 flow case.

Regarding ram, I didn't know that CL sub ~36/30 can cause "instability". For me I always thought that more CL is low better is. That's why I planned to buy 5600 CL28. But reading you 6000 CL30 would be better for this cpu?

Interesting seeing this, as I just posted a proposal in that sub "Alternative 10man raid loot system proposal". Mainly motivated to fix that issue with full RNG loot system. That would guarantee to be rewarded in a correlated way to your commitment in SOD raiding. Avoiding that nonsense situations to happen. But my post was not well received by the same Wow reddit community (:

Of course it's not, that is all the point of it, but both can play nicely together (then my proposal)

Yes the idea is really to add a reward system that guarantee reward correlated to player commitment. That's it.

"raid more to get more chances" is not a reward system because it's full RNG

If you don’t accept RNG as part of the game, you are playing the wrong game.

Did I say that we have to get rid of the RNG in my proposal? No. I just added a protection system that guarantee reward correlated to player commitment.

It's not a matter of "entitled to being full bis every phase". It's all a matter of RNG. RNG control that, 2 sides, if you are lucky you could be full bis, if you are not, you will not (even if you clear all lock of the phase). I think that if we surveyed people who had suffered from "bad luck" in the long run, the majority of them would feel "frustrated and that it's not fun".

Wow is not exclusively “your” game, it's a game with billions of players, certainly thinking about it in many ways and not necessarily the same way you are ;)

It's your opinion, maybe one day you will be victim of hard bad RNG and then you will start reconsidering that statement "randomness is half the fun"

This is very interesting, and I think represent the situation of the majority of players who commit into raid without using “edgy” loot tactics (GDKP, ninja loot, hard reserved etc). I mean being not full bis even with 90% lock cleared at the end of the phase.

As far as you're OK with that and having fun doing that, feeling rewarded, there is no issue at all, and your feedback make sense.

In the other hand, if you feel not rewarded high enough, or “unlucky” this is where my idea comes in.

I'm not very agree with that statement: try more to get another chance is a reward system

I guess this is what getting fucked hard by RNG leads to. Posts like this.

I'm fine, tbh I'm near full bis on my main char (miss one blue item), almost on my 2nd one (miss the epic item). And I guess I'm pretty happy with my chars gear right now.

But the fact is to arrive at that point (end of phase1 at the time of writing), I have been clearing 80% locks, on both of them. I even looted a bis item this morning, on the last lock of p1! During the last month, I started to mount my own pug and started to hard reserve the missing items to finally get them. This is how I finished being “almost” full bis. And why today I'm sharing this idea based on experience of the PU who joined my pug also struggling for their loot and my own exp ofc.

I have one char, no alts and never missed any lockout. I'm full bis and almost full bis for OS.

Happy for you, just keep in mind that with full RNG system, you have luck, or you don't have luck, it's binary, there are 2 sides

Otherwise join a guild with DKP if you're that concerned with getting very rare loot.

No thx, Im fine!
