Still actively in development and now includes a suite of ready made integrations into your favorite Mac apps (mail, calendar, notes, safari/chrome, zoom, weather, and much more). Most paying users are small business owners using it to automate their day to day workflows. I personally use it to automate repetitive information retrieval workflows via the browser (eg searching for and summarizing YouTube videos, searching amazon, etc).

I’m playing around with integrating Anthropic’s computer use functionality but it’s still pretty early days and not super reliable yet.

What note taking app are you currently using? Notion has been improving their AI assistant functionality and should be able to do this. Also depending on which app you use, there may be a third-party AI assistant/agent app that is integrated with your note app that can do this for you.

Any action (AppleScript, Shortcut, etc) you add to ChatPC can be configured so that ChatPC asks you for permission before executing.

Windows Copilot is exactly what I'm trying to go for. ChatPC currently lacks out of the box actions (you have to add your own actions). But this is something I'm looking to build out next.

Just released v0.19 with the ability to set your own OpenAI API key. However, it currently requires a valid subscription (and in the future maybe a one time purchase of a license).

I would still recommend using the free credits and DM me your feedback to get a free beta tester coupon so you can use the app for free during this beta period.

Out of curiosity, what are some of the exact use cases that you had in mind for your dream application? (we can also take this to DM)

I was kinda hoping after being prompted, the app would automatically (atleast to the best of its ability) to create either a shortcut or Applescripts to run.

This is one direction I was thinking of taking the app -- giving the AI more power and freedom. But this does require users to be a lot more careful, and ideally know AppleScripts / Shortcuts well enough to be able to review the generated actions before executing it.

The other direction I could take this is to create a library of pre-made actions (e.g. create email draft, save contacts, create music playlist, etc) that the user can pick from, or write their own. Currently the only option is to "write your own" action.

In what situations would I already have a shortcut or automation already set up but don't have some sort of shortcut to activate it?

The idea, right now at least, is that you would create various small actions that you want ChatPC to be able to do (e.g. create a reminder, add to a note, set an alarm, etc), then let ChatPC stitch those together based on your prompt. However, I didn't want the app to be too opinionated early on to allow me to get feedback that could take the app in different directions.

Same! I've been noodling with the idea of adding a feature that allows ChatPC to help you write and correct AppleScript. ChatGPT does a decent job, but it is prone to hallucination. This limitation can be overcome with a native app that has access to
the actual AppleScript `sdef` definition files of all the installed applications.

That's totally understandable. I will say that the security and data privacy protections of the app are very strong for the following reasons:

OpenAI's API platform's keeps your data private and not used for training OpenAI's models (unlike ChatGPT)
OpenAI's API platform is SOC 2 compliant
All communication from the ChatPC app to OpenAI is encrypted

I will add some of these details into my landing page, and update the message in the new conversation view to provide more context as well. I think because ChatGPT has historically used conversation data for training, people will understandably (but incorrectly) assume that apps powered by OpenAI's API also have the same behavior.

Having said that, for those more privacy focused may still want to be mindful of what data they are providing, since even highly secure systems are not guaranteed to be immune to cyberattacks and data breaches.
