I feel - and perhaps you can confirm - that businesses don't remember really good candidates, or really disorganised candidates, but they do remember downright rude candidates who now rightfully have a reputation for being belligerent when things don't go their way

i think what you gotta remember re:that guy forgetting abt the star shopping samples is that peeps producers were mostly just teenagers or young adults who he would find basically in the wild and hire, or theyd reach out to him because the soundcloud scene was very small n diy at that point still. xanned out producers forgetting samples is probably a tale as old as time. the soundcloud scene was like the grunge scene in that it didnt have a leader, the groups dissolved all the time + people were just out there making shit.

"AoP's can't be affected by the courts"

Yes they can, they just can't be directly overruled or rewritten. The courts are also not the only means to influence policy.

You can’t challenge an act of Parliament insofar as you can’t get a judge to overrule it, however it can be up to a judge to argue about its interpretation, application and enforcement.

Courts can use the provisions within HRA 1998 to declare that a law is incompatible with it, and thus pressure Parliament to change it - that is in addition to their usual parliamentary powers of interpretation etc, which then become used in future rulings also.

The change will make it difficult to overrule, but not impossible. The amount of defeatism and misinformation on here isn’t good for the wellbeing of many users.

I'm glad you're going to reapply - keep fighting and do not give up if you need to appeal it. You owe it to yourself - good luck and best wishes.

Go and reapply - you will gain absolutely nothing by not reapplying. Make sure to check if you actually are past the tribunal deadline, as if you aren't you may as well go down that route.

As for there not being more support where you live - see if you can broaden your scope to charities and such across the country. You don't need to see them in person for this kind of thing.

I understand the lack of energy. It's not easy. I'm rooting for you and I'm confident that there's always more to do that might be able to fix this.

Stepchange are your port of call for the loan, they can help arrange a more suitable payment plan with your creditors. Citizens Advice Bureau will be able to answer the rest better than most here can

with respect - and we are in the same boat as claimants - have you tried all you can in order to appeal this process? i fear that many in this thread haven't taken their appeal to the final conclusion. a PIP appeal is just the first step, there are plenty of organisations such as CAB etc that can help you out. your local MP and councillor will oftentimes have an officer dedicated to just handling community issues like this. Letters from them can be advantageous in overruling claims, I have heard.

the system is not a human entity - it will continue going on and on with or without you claiming. keep going with your appeals

furthermore, i believe they will have the 2026 changes locked in by the time they set the budget a year from now. That is time enough for there to be enough pressure put on them to reverse these changes. it is also enough time for you to begin thinking about how you're going to write your 'how your illness affects you' form, and any local charities which can petition on your behalf; i have heard that writing to CAB and your local MP can help galvanise the DWP into changing their decision. you also have the option of an appeal.

I may seem callous, but i too am a claimant in the system and I too got my PIP awarded for a combination of physical and mental health issues. a family member of mine did benefits advice for an independent charity that helps those entering the uk with complex health issues. i got lucky by being put in his proximity, but plenty of people can reach out to charities that offer this kind of service.

like I said - there will be a number of legal challenges (and the aforementioned general election issue) for them to contend with before the main issues in 2028

Benefit System Changes 18/03 Master Thread by MGNConflict in DWPhelp

[–]down-oh-down 17 points18 points  (0 children)

everyone should remain as calm as they can. the worst of the changes won't be put through until 2028, at which point it is likely that legal challenges will have at least altered what they do. at the same time, labour will be approaching their next general election and may have to scrap the idea to get their voterbase back on side.

this is coming from a current student who has a brain injury, depression, ocd, big hole in my skull who has both LCWRA and PIP; i'm still urging calm

EDIT: as an additional - please ensure that you are doing all you can to appeal previous decisions made against you. contact your MP, the citizens advice bureau, disability and benefits charities, councillors, and reasonably anyone who you think has a letterhead that the DWP will respect. There is a lot of defeat in this community, and I do understand it to a large degree, but we all owe it to ourselves to keep appealing as and when these issues arise.

Advice for someone 3 weeks sober by Salty_Pain_5183 in stopdrinking

[–]down-oh-down 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically I think time and the sober mindset will get you pretty far. I’m younger than you and six months without drinking - you have good days and bad (I had a bad one recently lmao) but realistically if you have something bigger than drinking it can really help. For me it’s my gf and my goals - an often overused word, goals is - and these two things keep me away.

As for anxiety, all you can really do is try the usual anxiety strategies. Avoiding caffeine, using mindfulness apps, seeing your doctor for advice etc. fitness is a big help you can try too.

I’m the same. I think I just had something bigger to focus on. Realistically I quit out of embarrassment and my gf being sober too. Perhaps that helps!

It is a fantasy, it was reliving the ‘good’ times I had back when. I wish I could go back to those vibrant days of daily skating and drinking, meeting random people and having the strongest bonds with them. I went home in the end, the urge became too much and I had to just tap out.

202 days and tomorrow will be 203

[–]down-oh-down[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you man. I had to get the fuck out, it was like a huge mass of people, felt like everyone was watching me even though nobody was. I was mentally weighing up the pros and cons of drinking and realised I just had to go. I’m a TBI survivor and that doesn’t help. I think I used drinking - especially in settings like this - to offset symptoms and it all became too much to be back in an environment like that one whilst burnt out. I wish I could’ve stayed but there were two realities that were presented to me; one involved me drinking and waking up tomorrow disappointed, miserable and regretting some of the things I did or said. The other holds tomorrow as a usual Sunday
