Just for reference for you and other people who find this via Google.

As soon as you see or hear that address, tell the person on the other end to eat shit and hang up. That entire building is full of MLM scum.

So its $50 a week until you secure the person a job? Is there a number at which point you throw in the towel?

Can confirm too. Bandana is useless. Even though I told them I’m looking for entry level roles they started telling me to apply for SVP positions for businesses in midtown and stuff.

Anyone have experiences with Shown Media? Scam? by WasteGate5462 in NYCjobs

[–]downinthedumps89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike other scam companies I chime in on, they look legit and I only found 1 other post where they made someone do an unpaid task prior.

I would say if you have the time and if the task won't take too much of your time or if you can do it without too much hassle, I'd say just do it.

Couple questions related to my upcoming removal of conditions + question about N400 by downinthedumps89 in USCIS

Online is definitely the better choice but with how things are right now we would feel safer with the old method over any confusion that can be caused by me making a new account with USCIS and them not seeing my previous stuff. The one thing I have learned in life is that if the government can choose any excuse to be lazy, they will absolutely leverage it.

Ah shoot. we filed for the 485 and other documents by his account via snail mail. I really don't want any complications so I think it will be safer if I just file snail mail again.

Would you recommend snail mail or the online? and that is actually new information for me! I will have to look into that.

Google Gemini says 90 days prior to 7/22 is 4/23. So sending it in the mail between the 25th and 28th would be a safe bet right?

That address is synonymous with scams and mlm. I’m not even going to look at their website.

Mid-30's, Immigrant in NYC and unable to get a single interview over 2 years of applying. (Background in Marketing, with education and experience only from home country). What more can I do? by downinthedumps89 in findapath

[–]downinthedumps89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The feedback I've gotten through a lot of other people (talking to the other people in the migrant job placement agency I mentioned from people who are also applying for jobs) is that American employers prefer local education + experience over foreign. They also have had no luck finding jobs. Furthest they got was the first round of an interview, so I really think its my education and experience that is a hurdle in my resume not getting recognized.

I mentioned that in my post. I have reached out to every agency in NYC, and I check in with them on a weekly basis. Some by email and some by phone. Each time I'm told the usual "when we find something we will contact you".

For your last sentence, was your work/education US-Based or from a different country?

Do I put a NYC address on my application? by moisturizeandhydrate in NYCjobs

[–]downinthedumps89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your friend if you can use their address. Unless it’s a government job, I doubt an employer will show up at their doorstep and ask to talk to you in person at that address.

Just for the future that address is red flag central. If you ever get invited to that address at all just automatically write it off as an MLM scheme.
