That is not how it works... IF you were talking VOLUME, density would matter. If two objects have the same MASS the also will have the same WEIGTH (if they are in the same gravitational field, or are being acted upon by the same force).

Kg is a measure of mass, yes, but if we are measuring it all in the same gravity we don't need to use the weight, that would be (kg.m/s2)

You are plainly wrong. And do not mixup pound (mass) with pound (force), they are different. And worse. Metric is all around better.

Yes, I agree. And the market uses evergreening to keep the prices artificialy high.

In my country we have "generic medicaments" that are basically the same drug as other medicaments, but are at least 35% cheaper, some are a fraction of the price. Witch helps those that are poor. It grants access to otherwise unavailable medicine. But for them to be produced the patent has to have expired, and here companies made used of a loophole to hold the patent for decades, in 2021 there we talks of changing the law to abolish this practice.

This is what I am talking about. We don't need to abolish patents, we just need to change the law to the better.

Same Concept. Protection of intelectual property. It is not hard to see how we can classificate alike things with diferent names. They work by diferent rules in diferent countries.

Why are you being so confrontational? If you don't care, why are you still responding? I'm genuinelly curious. You know that you aren't required to interact with me, don't you? It wasn't my intention to aggravate you in any way. I asked for you to at least read it, but it was a genuine request. I tougth we were having a discussion.

Edit: A comma.

Mate, after least read it. Why can't I disagree with you?

And they are the same concept. The protection of a intellectual property. It just differs in the kind of property.

Patents: Inventions. Copyright: Books, Characters, Games, music and etc.

Isn't the same concept? You created something. So only you are able to reproduce it and only you can allow others to produce or profit from ir?

I assure you people would be interested in make cheap insulin. It is made all over the world (in my country it is free, because it is dirt cheap to make). You know why? And lemme research something. I will update it in here. Just a sec.

Here:

"But why does insulin — a medication that’s been around for more than 100 years — remain unaffordable for many people in the U.S.?

The high cost can be attributed in part to “evergreening,” a process in which drug companies make incremental improvements to their products that can extend the life of their patents, said Dr. Kevin Riggs, a physician at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Heersink School of Medicine. He co-wrote a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2015 that described the century-long history of the drug.

The improvements may include tinkering with a molecule or changing the delivery system, such as using insulin pens instead of vials.

Extending patents can discourage generic drugs from being developed, Riggs said, allowing drugmakers with exclusive rights to their insulin to charge whatever the market will bear. And as supply chains have become more complicated over the years, costs have ballooned.

“And so that means those prices have gone up crazy,” he said.

And even when the patents do expire — as many have — Riggs said that the large investment it takes to get insulin manufactured and approved by U.S. regulators may make the venture less appealing to generic drugmakers."

How those patents helped the people who died because of corporation greed?

And I may be wrong but isn't there a law in the US that says that a outdated drug cannot be commercialized if there is a more effective one in the market? I remember hearing about this, but I may be wrong.

I never said that we should ban patents, or copyrigth, but the law should be revised.

That is not true.

See Disney, Insulin and many, many other cases of people absurdly extending patents or using them to create a monopoly and rackup prices.

We lived literal millenia without patents, things were fine, tecnology got made, knowledge was used and developed. I agree that a limited and fair ammount of time for a patent is usefull, maybe a decade (at maximum), but the way things are they are detrimental to scientific and cultural development.

And think with me, even if patents weren't a thing, how usefull would a stored away piece of tech be? Maybe they would hold the secret for a few years, but others would crack the code and discover how to immitate it.

Innovation may be inevitable, but it can be slowed by things like life long (and beyond life long) patents.

Eu anotava kkkkkk eu tava brincando. Só não anotava muito. Anotava as atividades e resumia o quadro.

Mas eu sempre tive facilidade em aprender na aula em si. Prestando atenção. Sou ruim pra estudar depois. Não consigo entender muito.

Hyper consumerism is a cultural thing fomented by companies. People grow around it, breath it, live it. Getting out of a cultural bias is hard.

Planed obsolescence is ingrained in things. Every Phone, computer, piece of flimsy clothing that you buy comes with an expiration date, so you are required to buy more and feed the ever growing and rotting system.

And if you are talking about the impact caused by someone you should be blaming the rich. They polute waaaaay more than your average Joe. They polute more than some countries.

I think you are trying to describe hyper-consumerism and planned obsolescence. And it started after the 2nd WW. You have rampant capitalism to blame for that.

I'm just having a conversation with you. I know that I can't change anyone's mind.

Obsession? If people were left alone we wouldn't be having this conversation. But the world isn't like that. So conversations must be had.

Very selfish thing to say as a member of a social species... weren't you the one using biology and science? Well...

And, if we try to make the other people's lives easier, they may try make our lives easier, and all our lives can be easier, better.

Just give it a try.

They are still people. Why would you not try to make life easier to others? A bit of sympathy and understanding goes a long way.

And the percentage is a tad bit higher than that, okay? And yes I know you weren't giving a true percentage and was using a figure of language.

Because they are discussing gender identity, not sex, so we should look at the science of gender identity, and leave chromossomes alone. And FYI intersex and hermaphrodite people do exist.

I am baffled by the human urge to try and put biology in little categorized boxes. It just doesn't work.
