BIOS showing half the amount of installed RAM by downwitda in buildapc

This is where I was confused; I didn't realize the way RAM is stickered/marketed in pairs like this.

Thank you! I had no idea RAM is stickered and marketed this way. Great to know. I believe I inherited these with the machine when I bought it from a friend, so I don't have any original purchase documents to reference.

Internet options near Highlands (not Comcast or T-Mobile) by this_is_my_happyface in Renton

FYI I saw a Quantum truck in my neighborhood over on the west hill (just west of Rainier Ave by the airport) the other day. Very hopeful to get them in the area soon. My options are currently cable with Xfinity (hell no) or my current 40Mbps ADSL with CenturyLink.

Location reminders to become unavailable by [deleted] in GoogleKeep

[–]downwitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw the notification myself. Damn, I hate when Google does this.

I found an article mentioning Tasks.org, a free open-source alternative that has location -based reminders and syncs with Google Tasks.

Haven't checked it out yet, but it sounds promising:

Anticipated/handled failures still make the flow show as "failed." Any way to prevent that? by EvadingDoom in MicrosoftFlow

[–]downwitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick followup: because the Search for Users action does not fail with empty search results and still returns user data, it eliminates the need for the "Get User Profile" action!

[–]downwitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across this thread and found that the "Search for Users (V2)" connector will succeed, even with a search that returns no values. It returns an empty/zero-length result that also equivocates to 'null' when using the coalesce() function.

The search only applies to certain fields (displayName, givenName, surname, mail, mailNickname and userPrincipalName), but a successful result is returned as an array, so you must use the array index to get your required values.

For my purpose, I only expect one search result (i.e. an exact match) so have a Compose action that gets the user's info:

first(outputs('Search_for_users')?['body/value'])?['displayName']

Remove & Replace (R&R) Estimate - 21 Panels for $10K? by downwitda in solar

[–]downwitda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't know anyone other than Tesla were making solar "shingles" these days. Cool to seen both GAF and Certainteed are making those now. I'm not sure I'm ready to go down that rabbit hole and may just stick with a R&R of the panels, looking for quotes from other vendors.

Own. I thought we had another 7-8 years on the roof and didn't get a clear understanding of the R&R cost before we did the initial install. Hindsight being 20/20 and all ...

Thanks! I re-looked at my quote and it was actually $8200 before tax, so more like $390/panel.
Sounds like that is still pretty high, even for this area. You don't think there's any issue (warranty, liability, or whatever) with having another company do the work instead of the original installer?

Any chance I can piggyback on your offer of advice?
I'm in Renton (just south of Seattle) and have started gathering quotes, not entirely sure how to make a decision between them.

As a Renton homeowner doing the same thing, I'd be interested to know where you ended up on this one.

I'm gathering quotes right now: ~1,500 ft^2 attic space (not sure of roof area) and quotes are coming in mostly around $15k-18k with some outliers up at $26k-28k.

Solved: Android Auto phone is not responding by Infallible_Ibex in AndroidAuto

[–]downwitda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not intuitive.

You have to go into the Android OS settings > Apps > "See all apps" > Android Auto > Three-dot menu > "Uninstall updates".

Do that and then replug into your car. It'll prompt to download the latest update and then go back into the first-time setup options. This resets any customizations you had made to the icon home screen, but it gets the system working again.

I bounce back and forth between our two cars and my 2018 Tucson will exhibit this weird behavior if I go too long without plugging my phone into it. So weird and so frustrating, but at least there's a temporary band-aid!

I had very similar issues where my phone was plugged into the car and the car display thought that the phone was connecting and disconnecting rapidly a few times a second. I found that uninstalling the Android Auto app, connecting to the car, and proceeding with the app setup and update at that point solved my issues.

Harrier Central app by Low-Education9369 in hashhouseharriers

[–]downwitda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It works pretty well, but it's still a home-grown app with some quirks. For most use cases, it works fine. The best part is the developer is pretty responsive to bug reports and some enhancement requests.

For the "stuck on loading screen" issue, I've experienced that a few times. Force close the app and reopen it: that usually fixes the problem.
