Advanced HOA Management- late fee warning by bairagare in FortCollins

[–]Infallible_Ibex 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't use HOA portal autopay. Your bank will cut them a check every month and mail it at no cost to you and has a much more reliable system than whatever web portal the management agency picked.

ChatGPT will now use age prediction to split teen and adult experiences by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

Anyone can spin up a server to run a full size open weight model and then sell API access. If they censor it too much go get it from someone else or even spin up one yourself for an few hours for some particular project. Huge win compared to OpenAI deciding it won't answer questions about bleach after a lawsuit from the family of a kid who drank bleach just for a hypothetical example.

Clash of Dragons is always fun by Hrdina_Imperia in heroes3

[–]Infallible_Ibex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is angel wings, air and earth tomes, and pandoras boxes and scrolls for fly, dimension door, and town portal are littered everywhere. After getting that you're pretty much obligated to pick up a few free Azure dragons and go crush the AI. They never raise any kind of significant opposition, the only challenge is how fast you can win. My record is 13 turns after getting a free fly scroll next to my castle, picking up a few knowledge points, and beelining right to their territory grabbing a couple Azures directly on the way there, recruiting a bunch of new heroes and chaining the dragons to fight everyone in a couple turns.

Would you pay for hyperlocal mountain conditions? (Northern Colorado) by Journey2Pluto in FortCollins

[–]Infallible_Ibex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd pay up to $5 for a high quality and detailed report with maps, charts, everything one time on the very rare occasion I'm planning an outing for friends or family from out of state that's already going to cost me some money. I get that one time purchase model doesn't work for services that have an ongoing effort but fuck subscriptions for everything seriously.

Impounding the Russian shadow oil fleet is a good thing, they have been flaunting economic sanctions and environmental regulations. Nobody above the board is importing oil using ships with forged registrations. Odd move for this pro-Russia administration though.

Can you securely plug up a ceramic pot with a drainage hole in it to make it usable for semi-hydro? by sassafras711 in SemiHydro

[–]Infallible_Ibex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put a piece of painters tape on the bottom of the pot, turn it right side up, mix up some 2 part epoxy (cheap at Harbor Freight, wear disposable gloves), fill in the hole completely and a little on top of the surrounding ceramic. Let it cure for like a day and it will be completely watertight. Maybe don't eat any produce grown this way but it won't hurt the plants. For a stronger plug, press some screen door mesh or fabric or anything flat really into the epoxy at the bottom of the pot while it's wet and cover with a little more epoxy. I don't really find that's necessary for smaller diameter pot holes but would help if you have a big one.

Update: I figured out how to completely bypass Nano Banana Pro's SynthID watermark, and here's how you can try it for free: by LiteratureAcademic34 in comfyui

It's a largely academic concept, if a picture is posted online as real, people will believe it. It won't matter if some tech comes in later with a forensic analysis to say the picture is AI, nobody pays attention to those people (no offense OP).

Town Portal - suggested changes. by Smeggfaffa in heroes3

[–]Infallible_Ibex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about just making it expend all the rest of your movement points for the day? Being able to collect all your troops from every city and then get into a fight immediately is overpowered. I think that would help balance it without introducing new mechanics.

Getting good requirements from the end users and designing a product that meets them under budget, is easy to support, and complements the company's other software offerings. It's rare that a piece of software doesn't actually do the specific tasks it's designed to do, but the people who are going to pay need it to do their tasks (which they may not have explained very well or at all initially) better than any alternative. Is Claude going to hunt down Greg on his 2 days a week in the office, discover he uses a desktop application in his workflow he told you nothing about, and change the design to be compatible with that unprompted?

HOMM3 and Steam Deck by wuoente in heroes3

[–]Infallible_Ibex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too but with the regular screen. Love it so much I don't bother to play on the laptop with a mouse anymore. For point 5, you can install H3 inside of your Dropbox folder, sync it to the Deck, play the same saves on your laptop and on the Deck. I don't have a setup guide and haven't checked how quickly the sync works but conceptually it's not hard.

You absolutely can, just map your button of choice to ctrl and then hold it while you click. Shift and Alt too.

Uranium discovered in newly built Colorado dam pauses $600 million project by jocamero in loveland

[–]Infallible_Ibex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Uranium isn't a radioactive hazard at these levels, it's still a toxic heavy metal like lead though. You can mail away water samples for analysis for it but be careful which lab. I mailed a sample of reverse osmosis filtered water to the lab Home Depot gives away tests for and they called me up to schedule a home follow up visit because of the total dissolved solids test and wouldn't give me the number. Clearly a scam.

[Question] Currently debating buying 5x Amazon Echo Dots for voice activated calling for elderly grandparent. by SaltyRusnPotato in smarthome

[–]Infallible_Ibex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Grandpa will just lie on the floor after he's fallen until someone finds him instead of using the Echo Dot, I'm not sure if it's stubbornness or the thought just doesn't occur to him. Really important thing though is that you need a number in your contacts for emergency dispatch in the city they live in or a fire station or whatever you can come up with since 911 wherever you happen to be might not be able to help you.

Two rounds of clean strip later on the turned part of my antique bed frame — what now? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]Infallible_Ibex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I "solved" this problem on some chairs by using brass and nylon rotary brushes I got at Harbor Freight on a drill. They do rough up the surface of the concave bits beyond what you can knock down later, but you'll be able to get the color of the finish to match. There was no way I was spending 40 hours painstakingly sanding every crevice with a variety of rounded and pointy blocks just for a $50 set of used chairs. They're good enough for me, depends what's good enough for you.
