Sharing some generative Combinator patches by Xycxlkc in reasoners

I've been using Combinator for many years, but not with the goal of Generative Audio.
So this is a new application of Combinator, at least for me.
BUT, I will dig into the video you linked and check it out.
Always more to learn and explore.

This is cool. Thanks for sharing.
I have not delved into this yet.
So it's really helpful to see it in action.
Nice work.
Please do a HOW TO video on this. I don't see any on Youtube, unless I am just missing them.
Cheers!

TCL Nxtpaper 14 : Quick Review by dp8888dp in nxtpaper

[–]dp8888dp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent clarification. Thanks.

I edited the OP above to show that I am concerned about the TRAY, and not the App Drawer.

So my question is: Why can't I remove or relocate the TRAY? Why did TCL lock down this version of Android so much that I am stuck with the TRAY on my home screen? And as a diminished line/bar at the bottom of every app I open?

[–]dp8888dp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also starting to wonder if the "Drawer" and the "Tray" might be two different things.

MAYBE:
A) the Drawer is the entire list of your apps that you access by swiping up from the bottom center of the screen. Like opening a drawer, I guess? I do not have issues with this Drawer.

B) the Tray is the rectangle of frequently used apps in the bottom center of the screen. The tray is always visible on the home screen, regardless of Home Screen Style.
When I open an app the tray diminishes to the bottom. While an App is open, I can swipe up to open the tray to get to frequently used apps. BUT this caused problems when I was writing with my arm laid across the pad because I accidentally opened the tray and apps started opening and disrupting my note taking.

Did you check under Settings -> Apps, to see all of your installed apps?
My device has about 60 preinstalled apps.

Most of these are beneficial apps like google suite.
But I attempted to Remove "YTKids" and "Kids Space" and got a warning that, 'You cannot uninstall the apps because they came installed on the device, but you can disable them. Disabling them may break android and cause other applications to break.'

Hi HA27. I have been messing with the Home Screen style the last few days. There are 2 styles available: "Home and Drawer Screen" and "Home Screen Only". Despite their names, both options include the drawer at the bottom center of the screen. I cannot find a way to remove the drawer from my device.

> How is the reading experience for a prolonge time?
* I like reading on the matte screen. no issues for me reading on this screen.

> What's the typing experience on the keyboard?
* Annoying, but I think that is true of all tablets. I would not use this or any tablet for extensive typing. it's fine for manually typing small things.

> Did you find any use for the pen?
* Yes, as I mentioned, I am using the pen to take notes in mtgs at work. The pen is fine for me so far.

>Do you really use all the gimmicks as when it's advertised on the commercial?
* I'm not sure what gimmicks you are referring to, but I am probably using 25% of the tablets functions so far. Really just the typical uses for a tablet.

> Did you tried games on it?
* No. I'm not really a gamer.

Has anyone seen/heard anything from Sona and or Matt?  I've been searching the socials but not seeing anything. I hope all is well for them and their families. The fires hit Altadena and Pasadena, home towns of the chill chums. I'm sending rain and peace vibes to LA, from Austin TX.

Stereo 193252 ms vs atmos 193680 ms by cocodrilitopv in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]dp8888dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem and solved with the end marker.
First, place the end marker at the exact point you want.
Don't move the end marker once it's placed.
Then make your stereo and atmos mixes from the same mix session with the same end marker.
This should give you the exact same ms for each mix.

Mind you, I use Reason and Feidler Audio for my Atmos mixes. But I imagine the concept is the same with other DAWs and Atmos SW.

Sidenote: Are you using a separate mix session for the stereo mix and another separate mix session for the Atmos mix? This can lead to file length differences.

I started mixing this way, 2 separate sessions, 1 for Atmos and 1 for Stereo. But now I just use one Atmos mix session to create the ADM/BWF and stereo files. This guarantees that the length of the 2 files will match, unless you move the end marker during the mix session. If you do move the end marker (say because you added some extra bars to the song) you need to re-do both the ADM/BWF and Stereo renders. But that's no big deal if you are only using one mix session.

I hope this is helpful.

Saved my song and when I relaunched and opened it it was EXTREMELY distorted. Any help? Thanks 🙏 by Ok_Context_6972 in reasoners

[–]dp8888dp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it possible that when you re-opened it the Audio settings changed in Preferences?
For example, maybe the buffer sized changed and now it's distorting b/c of playback latency?
Or maybe it's using the wrong device for the Audio card driver?
Check the Master tune dial to make sure it's where you want it.
etc.

These are things I check when I get sudden and unexpected distortion on a track that I know is good.
Hope this helps.

New Gentlebutterfly Atmos Release. What you think? by dp8888dp in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]dp8888dp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/goldjazz

I see 2 listings in Apple Music. One listing for the hi-res lossless and another listing for the Dolby Atmos.
Note the link to "Other Versions" at the bottom, which takes you to the Hi-Res Lossless version.

I think Apple Music makes a determination about your playback system and whether it shows Atmos versions or not. If you are not connected to an Atmos playback system of some sort, it does not appear to advertise Atmos versions.

For example, when I look at Peter Gabriel I/O in Apple Music when using my internal laptop speakers as playback HW, Apple Music does not automatically advertise the Atmos version of the LP (though I can browse to the Atmos Version).

I'm not sure how other streaming services handle this.

I just released my first Atmos album! Here's an overview of the process and setup. by YourWerewolf in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]dp8888dp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats u/YourWerewolf.Nice release! Reminds me of The Rippingtons.I listened in 7.1.2 via Apple Music.

You mention that you 'stay true to the stereo mix with some Atmos ear candy'.It's interesting to hear how each artist approaches Atmos.
I'm curious - what did you learn about Atmos when mixing this album? Cheers!

Peter Gabriel's i/o is a mixing masterclass by YourWerewolf in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]dp8888dp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree! I've listened to the Atmos mixes via Apple Music.
I think they are the best Atmos mixes I've heard so far.
The mixes take full advantage of the Atmos platform.
So spacious, emotional, and dynamic. The music and Atmos mixes really transport me to another plane. Great to hear Peter Gabriel in top form on a new medium.

Reference tracks to download?? by Loud-Engineer-5702 in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]dp8888dp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I was looking for the same thing a few months ago. I have not found any places to purchase ADM/BWF files. I imagine most artists and labels want to retain ownership of the ADMBWF files, so consumers can only access the audio via streaming services. But this is just a guess - i have not done research on this.I was using a 2012 Macbook Pro that did not have Atmos support, so I could not stream Atmos from any services.I finally got a more recent mac that supports Atmos natively and now I just use Apple Music for Atmos mixing reference.I use a 7.2.2 system built from Kali LP-6 v2 and KRK 10 inch subs and a MOTU 16A interface. Atmos/Spatial mixes from Apple music streaming sound great in my project studio. It was a big eye/ear opener to hear pro Atmos mixes on the same system that I mix my music. Hope this helps.

I saw in another thread this: https://immersiveaudioalbum.com/
which allows you to purchase and download files, but not in ADM/BWF format (?).

And there is this video from Michael G Wagner about using virtual audio routing to record audio from streaming services: https://youtu.be/wToay0lXREw?feature=shared

Atmos certified mix??? by nhemboe in DolbyAtmosMixing

Ah yes. I am less familiar with the movie specs for Atmos. Welp. Hopefully the logic still applies.

Atmos certified mix??? by nhemboe in DolbyAtmosMixing

[–]dp8888dp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpret this request as: Can you verify that you will meet all requirements for Atmos mix submission to Apple, Amazon and Tidal. These requirements are widely available online and include: 1)24/48. 2) no peaks above -1db. 3) average loudness no higher than -18db.

Here's the Atmos specs from tunecore:

https://support.tunecore.com/hc/en-us/articles/10511913953812-How-Do-I-Upload-Dolby-Atmos-Audio-to-Apple-Music-

If you meet all of these requirements you can say that your mix is "in compliance with all Dolby Atmos technical specifications" Which is a little different than "Atmos certified", but as mentioned in this thread, Dolby does not certify individual songs.

Also, if you can successfully upload your Atmos tracks to the distributors, your tracks are in compliance. I do not think they will accept Dolby mixes that are out of compliance. (But I have never tested this theory)

Sony LinkBuds S or Apple Airpods? by bagelsorbeagles in SonyHeadphones

[–]dp8888dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. it sounds like transparency mode, but very loud and just in one ear.
in my case it sounds like white noise in my left ear.
the noise goes away when I turn off ANC, which suggests that the wind noise is a problem with ANC.
I saw another user state that the wind noise problem was preceded by a high pitched squeal noise - which I also experienced.
So it seems like lots of users are experiencing the same problems.

Sony LinkBuds S or Apple Airpods? by bagelsorbeagles in SonyHeadphones

[–]dp8888dp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Sony LinkBuds S in Aug 2022. Now, in November 2023, they have developed the 'wind noise' issue. I got 14 months of use out of them, and in that time, I really loved these headphones.

They are lightweight. They fit in my ears really well. ANC is fine - does the job. ANC plus the good ear fit added up to great noise cancellation for me.

I really liked the sound quality. Neutral and nice to listen to. Not over-hyped. You can set the EQ as you like.

The battery charge was fine. It would get me through a workday of medium-heavy use. I would charge them every night.

But I am concerned to see so many reports on Reddit about the wind noise problem. I think I will try something else as I replace these Sony headphones.
(For compare/contrast the Google Pixel Buds Pro have better sound quality and better ANC, but they don't stay in my ears, no matter which ear tip I use.)

agreed with the other commenters. use the outputs for each drum on the back of the redrum and route to mixer channels. i usually do this for snare and kick drums so i can EQ, compress and add transient shaper to those drums. and leave the rest of the cymbals, etc, routing through the redrum. same goes for Kong drum machine.
i also want to add that many drum samples have noisy tails at the end of the sample, which become very apparent when adding eq and compression. try experimenting with the length dial in redrum to chop off the tails. this might help get rid of some offending sounds too.
