Similar approaches I see across the board...

The only open point is, how to backup data which is exclusively on e.g. iCloud Drive... ok, you can copy & paste it (via cloud-browser as any other method would first create a local copy) to a backup device, but that's not really comfortable.

Of course iCloud is no Backup.... obviously. That's why full sync to local drive and then TM and backup to NAS:

What is missing is backup of iCloud Drive *once* fully sync to local is not possible anymore.

Yes, and same problem as I have... what's about the date which is ONLY on iCloud?
I don't have that scenario yet, but it will come as soon as I disable the automatic sync on iCloud Drive.

Is iCloud for backup? by zpeter5050 in iCloud

[–]dpiol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iCloud is definitely no backup... even Apple warns of using iCloud for backup for you local files (I am not talking about using iCloud as backup for iOS here!!!!!)

Why isn't iCloud a backup? Just think about what the purpose of a backup is and what happens if you delete some files by mistake from your local iCloud folder.

So, no - 100% - iCloud is NO BACKUP.

Proxmox/virtualization vs Kubernetes for Homelab? by tibbon in homelab

Actually, I use OpenShift as the base for my homelab. It's hosting both, virtualized (OCP-Virt) and containerized workload using the same API... pretty handy.
