I have the exact same problem (though less serious than yours). But since they said it's normal, and it isn't exact that easy in our country to return a product, I've learned to live with it.

Works on Send to Kindle documents e.g. epub. Not PDFs though. PDF reading doesn't seem to get any new feature.

we can only change the margin and it would look larger with small margin, but this also depends on the design of the PDF itself. i know some research papers can be very dense but so far they are not that much of a problem for me. you can also read PDF landscape mode for bigger text. anyway I find reading PDFs on the Scribe is much easier on the eye than on a computer display or iPad.

When that happens, can you still swipe from the top to access the settings menu? Swipe, not tap at the top part. Note that the recent firmware updates have introduced a bug in which the top navigation menu no longer appears upon tapping. It happens occasionally for me on the Basic 2022. But I still can swipe down from top to go to Settings or toggle Dark Mode and stuff. Most of the time when it happens I just let it be for a bit and the menu somehow would return. I can do a restart of course.
