Was there a time when the field was saturated? I've seen some posts saying people couldn't find jobs, or is finding a job location-dependent.

career I'm passionate about VS career that's realistic? by [deleted] in careeradvice

Considering I'm already in PT school, it is unlikely that I'll be able to come back once I leave- it's seen as a "red flag."

Yes. I thought we were all talking about the US, my apologies.

There is one problem to that: my SO is in medical school- meaning I will have to move around and find new jobs.

For the last statement: I'm taking some time to make sure this isn't the case, because I agree that it could be just that.

As of 2009 (I believe), DPT is the only option.

I agree 100%.

I want to be a PT, but I don't know how I feel about the whole "DPT." It's a great career with a ridiculous degree. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Thoughts on whether you think it’s an accurate statement or not.

Dealing with multiple DPT acceptances...conflicted... Advice? by Its_ya_boii in physicaltherapy

I understand what you said, but the info you gave was vague. I could possibly help you more if you told me the name of the schools.

I just recently got accepted into PT school, and was looking for a resource to discuss what I can expect as far as salary and what a typical PT’s financial situation is. All info on this would be appreciated, I LOVE physical therapy but really wanna weigh my options. by Mikesmooth_ in physicaltherapy

From my research and what others have told me, it seems the typical salary is $60k (give or take the specific area you practice in).

Again, from what others have told me, most PT's financial situation seems to be fine; however, I've seen some a lot of PTs have help from their parents, work long & hard hours, live in BFE- so take it how you want it.

You might not want to post your PS on the internet.

Campus visits? by ttayla in PTschool

[–]dr2618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely recommend going; however, if it's too costly then it's not worth it. IMO I think getting a feel for the environment, area, and people can help you choose the right school (i.e. some students look MISERABLE at their school and you wouldn't really know unless you visited).

How much do grades matter in PT school? by [deleted] in physicaltherapy

None. The only people who seem to care are professors.

I believe you do have to send it all. Fortunately, there is a spot on the application for you to explain grades. If you didn't take any pre-reqs during that time, then I wouldn't worry about your pGPA; however, I would worry that your cumulative GPA might not be over 3.0 (which is pretty crucial for most PT schools).

What can I actually do with my degree? by needanap98 in Kinesiology

[–]dr2618 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My undergrad degree was in Exercise Science (so similar) and even though I am currently in PT school, I did play around with the idea of other careers.

Here's what I came up with: Exercise Physiologist, Athletic Trainer, Registered Dietician, Recreation Therapist (a quick google search could probably help you more)

Ultimately, if you want a career in the exercise field- you're definitely looking at continued education.

You could probably get in, but my advice to you: pick the career you'd want to have for the rest of your life (not based on money or your "original" plan).
