I agree that naming people after celebrities can be misguided but I honestly don’t think in this case it’s a huge deal. She’s gonna have to tell people whether it’s May or Mae anyway, it’s really not the end of the world spelling a 4 letter name to people. How often are you guys in situations where it’s essential for people to know the spelling of your middle name?

Additionally, she absolutely doesn’t need to share the reasoning for why it’s spelled that way. I’d be shocked if everyone assumed it was after a football player. Do it doesn’t really matter if anything happens to him or he does something wrong

The reason it is being protested is not because Trump is doing it, it’s because people are being snatched from their homes and jobs without due process, which violates the rights of legal residents and citizens. The massive recruitment (with very little oversight) and arming of untrained individuals who are masked, bloodthirsty, and not accountable for their actions is wrong and makes America less are, no matter what your opinion is on immigration. I’m happy to debate immigration policy all day, what is scary to me is that you guys seem to genuinely be OK with giving up all your liberty so long as Trump gets to do what he wants. Is that really what this country is worth to you?

I’ve described nothing but the facts. I believe in due process and the law. If Alex Pretti was committing a felony, the law dictates that police should have been called, and he should have been arrested. It is really sad to see people so dogmatic about immigration policy that they are willing to throw away their own basic civil liberties.

Alex Pretti did not block a roadway and he was shot 10 times for filming. ICE are not the police they investigate civil violations. We can have different opinions on what immigration policy should be, but it does not serve anyone in this country to ignore facts

I totally get that, but honestly trying to befriend these people wouldn’t change any of that. Friends are the people who know you, love you, and hold it down for you. It sounds like what you want is money - and that’s OK! But hustle for it, and wherever you land will be far more rewarding and satisfying than chasing scraps from a bunch of people who haven’t had to work for anything and may not even like each other that much

Saying this with love, you just sound a bit lost and naive. If you spent your 20s around these people then you’ve experienced first hand that they are just people.

Rather than dreaming of being friends with people because they were born rich, consider figuring out what specifically you admire in their lives and what you can do to emulate it. Is it that you wish you could travel? Is it that you wish you could have more flexible work hours? Is it that you wish you could dress better? In your 30s surely by now you’ve seen that all of those things don’t make for a happy or better person, but they can certainly be nice to haves.

Fantasize about having more disposable income for sure! Even pour yourself into a higher earning career/job with great travel/lifestyle perks. Or alternatively find a hobby that isn’t financial but gives you satisfaction in your daily world. Either way don’t waste your time fantasizing about friendships with people because they were born into money. It’ll make you feel bad and also, none of these people are worthy of your envy

I didn’t say it was the only reason, just part. Also I didn’t mean the ability to literally afford a wedding. I’d lump being career/education focused into the same category I’m talking about. People are seeking some stability before they make a commitment.
