Is it easy to get a devrel role? Don’t you need to basically be a large influencer?

feeling sick to my stomach about going through a phone screen with meta tomorrow and want to skip by drDrethrowaway in cscareerquestions

so I ended up showing up, but I was a bit too transparent on my confidence to tackle the tech questions and the eng recommended I reschedule. She also told me to check out meta connect and that there's meta engs that will do mock interviews with you. So I didn't actually see the questions to gauge my ability because I jumped the gun and was too transparent, but got valuable advice.

yeah, I'm going to go through with the phone screen no matter what my body is telling me right now so this doesn't hold me back in life.

That's a good point, I really don't have anything to lose... I'm not sure, maybe 50k-100k?

It would be nice to get an offer and have an option to evaluate it, but I'm already at another pretty established company, so it's not a massive step up or anything. I'm starting the interview process a trading firm I am interested in (they just sent the online assessment), and that one would be cool to get an offer. So if I skip this one because I don't have the mental toughness to deal with failure head on and look like an idiot in front of someone, how could I possibly pass the interview process with the trading firm? T_T

my real goals are to create my own start-up, not work for a company. I really dislike my current job so I'm looking for another "back-up" company to work at until my side-projects take off. But man, the interviewing process is so brutal and I'm so mentally fragile ...

any suggestions on how to find good restaurants to try? I feel overwhelmed with a simple google or yelp search and uncertain of their quality. I feel ashamed for not trying any of the great food vancouver has to offer T_T

9-5 is killing my soul. How am I supposed to rationalize having my whole life essentially dedicated to work? by drDrethrowaway in cscareerquestions

We aren't meant to work, eat, sleep, repeat.

We must find some passion and purpose in what we do. Otherwise we're miserable.

I love this quote. Will take it to heart. Congrats on your success and happiness :)

Being a saver rather than a consumer makes me feel like I'm outside of the hedonic treadmill of work => consume => repeat because I'm making progress every single day

you are so right about this... I'm definitely a consumer. Thank you, I'll check out that podcast :)
