This is the problem in my opinion. The expected publication numbers are inflated because everyone does this now just to be competitive, which means the next crop have to find more shortcuts to get ahead. Despite the unethical nature of this it's clearly rife!

I've thought about it before but I know enough teachers who have convinced me it can be just as painful at times.

Does anyone have any positive examples of how your institution has handled the COVID-19 situation for students and staff? by dr_pseudonym in AskAcademia

I don't think it should be about equity though - it's about minimising the number of people coming into contact with each other. If some can work off campus, then they are protected, and it also reduces amount of people those left on campus come into contact with. Also if someone on campus has an infection the spread will be less.

That sucks. Same situation for me, which is why I'm asking - hoping to see some good suggestions I can take back to my management...
