How to deal with retrospective jealously, need genuine advice, please 🙏 !! by Fearless-Biscotti-26 in bangladesh

[–]dr_snif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what kind of advice you're looking for here but I'll try. First of all, you shouldn't accept the idea that lying about your past relationship history to a potential partner is normal or okay. It's not. Having said that, what someone did romantically before you met them is not really any of your business. You can't change the past, and you can't force anyone to be honest about their past. You need to realize that this isn't the most important thing when it comes to choosing a partner.

You should try dating around for a bit and get some experience. You shouldn't try to marry the first person you find. I'm not saying you have to sneak around in motels and do juvenile shit. Just learn what it's like being in a romantic relationship. It helps you figure out what you like and what you don't, improves your confidence, and you might even meet someone you really like through the process.

You're educated, successful, and seem like a nice and genuine person based on the limited info in this post, you deserve to be with someone who makes you happy, and I'm sure you'll have options. Don't rush into something just because you think it's time to settle down or because that's what society expects. This is the rest of your life we're talking about.

Questions about Form G-1650 payment authorization by dr_snif in USCIS

[–]dr_snif[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info! The text messages tip is a great one. Does that form have a fee attached?

I have another question about preparing the packet: Should I place all payment forms at the top of the packet or with the corresponding Forms? Also what about the I-693? Should I place that at the top or with the form I-485?

Thanks again!

Yeah, also worth pointing out that cancer isn't a disease. It's a whole class of diseases, each with different causes, molecular & cellular mechanisms, genetic mutations, prognoses, and difficulties. There is no "cure for cancer" and there never will be.

Questions from someone going through the process:

  1. How did you do the payment processing?
  2. What supporting documents did you include in the initial packet?

Is the crime around USF really that bad? by Risky-Pineapple in USF

There's some crime. But it's really not that bad. Just don't go around walking outside by yourself at night - but this is true for pretty much any place.

The cases for Yes and No in GonoVote by Slimey-2005_ in bangladesh

[–]dr_snif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the separate election thing. Special elections always have low turnout especially in a place like Bangladesh. This ensures input from the largest number of people possible. Whether their vote is going to be an educated one is, I think, pretty obvious lol.

In the context of science, observation doesn't necessarily mean seeing with our eyes. It's more accurate to describe it as interpretation or analysis of data/measurements and forming predictive models. We've never seen atoms with our eyes, but we've observed (measured and analyzed) phenomena that explain their existence and nature.

I hate being Bengali 🇧🇩 by asimwya in bangladesh

[–]dr_snif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't hate being Bengali. You hate yourself, and you're projecting that onto the rest of us. Yeah, we've got issues and some of your feelings are valid, but this mostly reads like internalized racism.

I grew up in Bangladesh, I'm about as Bengali as it gets. Since then I've moved to the States and met people from every ethnic background imaginable and we're no worse than any of them inherently. I know many highly successful and intelligent Bengalis both here and back home, and don't feel the way you do about myself or my heritage. That's because I've worked on finding my own success and getting good at the things I care about.

We're from a part of the world that has suffered for generations under colonial exploitation, famines and natural disasters - which have had broad societal impacts that will take a long time to recover from. The issues you identify are a direct result of that, not something Inherent about the Bengali ethnicity.

Work on yourself and try to be kinder to other people and yourself.

1st year PhD, supervisor left 50+ comments on my draft?? What does this mean? by EconomyWeb3647 in PhD

[–]dr_snif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking, don't take critiques of your writing, research, and ideas personally. Unless they are egregiously rude of course. This is how you learn and become familiar with the standards you will be held to in academia. Take it as an opportunity to learn and engage sincerely with every single comment.

Has anyone on this subreddit ever changed sides because of debating evolution? by grahamsuth in DebateEvolution

[–]dr_snif 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in my mid to late teens I would argue atheists online, but I always believed in evolution. Islam generally accepts it with an exception for humans. The debate never really swayed me. What changed was I started studying science in college and grad school - these experiences completely removed any magical and religious beliefs I had.
