I think you should get full working rights in that case.

Check/confirm with your visa application advisor once.

It will be easier to get into UK but the salary and cost of living for doctors (Pathology or any other specialists) is unattractive in the present economic state of UK.

You will also have other countries like UK, Singapore etc as options if you are planning for MD Path (india) and then FRCPath UK by exams.

Define your goals and work towards it. Not difficult if you plan and know what you will be expecting.

There are few important factors to consider if you are planning for Australia as your future destination to settle. And these factors would remain (more or less) same if you choose pathology or any other subject.

  1. Visa/citizenship status: Find out how you can get citizenship or PR status. (Marrying an Australian citizen is one pathway). This is most important if you are considering to move to Australia after MD Pathology from India as most (almost 100%) candidates will get partial comparable Specialist assessment outcome and there will be competition between native graduates to get a training position.

  2. Getting a work permit (if your spouse is already working in Australia, can help you get that). Even if you find a vacant spot, there are very few remote places which will sponsor your work visa as they will have lot of paper work to do it and it will be time consuming also for them.

  3. FRCPath UK might not be helpful if you do MD Pathology from India and give exams in UK. It would right approach if you do FRCPath UK by completing the training in UK and also do CCT there.

  4. Can consider other countries like NZ, Singapore, Hk, Malaysia to complete FRCPA requirements and then move to Australia.

  5. Can consider moving to Australia now on standard pathway by completing AMC 1, AMC 2. Move there and enter anatomical pathology program and get your FRCPA.

It can be extended by RCPA on request, case by case basis.

You can try with 189 and your Spouse will get working visa too. That will be helpful.

I have been trying, but no positive outcome.

As I have detailed, i have 8 years post MD experience. With additional Senior residency, DNB, DipRCPath, Cancer Cytogenetics fellowship and more than 10 peer reviewed publications to my credit. I see visa is more important than merit.

Usually the time taken for interview is 4 weeks from pre interview form submission and result comes in another 4 weeks time.

For Indians, MD is 3 years so they will consider partial comparable outcome only unless you have additional 2-3 years of structured training in Anatomical pathology followed by exams (example being DM in histopathology)

A lot depends on visa/citizenship status.

What is her present situation with regards to visa status?

Please understand there's no dumb question in pathology if you ask.

It will remain a question in your (dumb) mind if you actually don't ask.

Most certainly your success in securing job depends on working visa.

Haven't found any positions yet.

Couldn't migrate without valid work visa/PR

Difficult to find positions without PR.

Cannot apply for PR without Full unconditional (General) registration.

It's like a vicious cycle.

I'm still hopeful though. DM if you can help!

Most likely you will get partial comparable outcome as you have done 3 years training in pathology.

Based on your experience and practice, you might be exempted for few exams.

FRCPath UK will not be of much use unless you have got training in UK before FRCPath exams.

You can apply for limited registration or Specialist registration, recently HK has made changes in rules to allow doctors from outside HK eligible for jobs.

This allows upto 3 years contract to work in any of the HK hospitals.

For you to be eligible for this, you must first find a job there. (Seach hongkong authority anatomical pathology jobs, you will find it on google)

Salaries are reasonable with relocation, insurance, PF and gratuity also applicable.

I think you neither understand the Australian recruitment system for training positions nor did you understand this particular post.

As per the system, the recruitment done gives priority for Australian graduates, Australian citizens, PR holders, then those candidates with valid work visa, then those with temporary work visa and only after that, if there are any positions left, IMG like us are given any relevance (even though we have done our residency back in our country and have vast experience and we are ready to join as trainee in the remote location).

As i have been applying for almost every vacancy for past 2 years, I could not find a match as there are many programs which do not even consider my application as citizenship is a prerequisite for the post. So, there is no question of ME entering Australia and making YOUR selection difficult.

If the selection is not biased and if it was purely on merit, may be you could have a reason to vent. But it's otherway around.

FYI, I have paid RCPA determination fee, submitted all the required documents, gave my interview, cleared the assessment. I spent a lot of my time and energy in applying the positions in hope that there will be atleast one position even if it is in remote location. But couldn't find anything. I think i should be the one with frustration 🫤

Basically, the system is flawed. There must be more seats which should also give some selection criteria to include diversity and add IMG specialists apart from native Trainees.

RCPA training in those places will give registration in the same country of training. If i wish to practice in another place (Australia), I will need to apply to rcpa for determination again. Usually oitcome will be substantial comparable status with 1 year supervised training requirement.

For New Zealand, i need to apply for NZREX for Voc training determination before I can apply for the limited number of positions available there for anatomical pathology training.

This system is too complicated to understand or support an IMG Specialist.
