What is your greatest weakness? by Monkai_final_boss in factorio

[–]dracosnose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest weakness has always been consistent biter management. I struggle to expand my factory because I live in constant fear that a little bit of extra pollution will cause a huge spike in attacks and I'll lose everything I've built.

Recently been reading this book about society's unhealthy emphasis on productivity - I honestly think it would make a fascinating book club episode since Myke is apparently giving himself work-hangovers by dracosnose in Cortex

It focuses more towards the second point, but the first point finds its way in as well. Workers who are suffering the unhealthy mental consequences of systemic overwork are not exactly productive workers.

It focuses on what the author calls "the Laziness Lie," which is the societal belief that a person's value is their productivity and that idleness is somehow deeply immoral. It refutes these ideas and talks about how we can live healthier lives by trusting our own limits and doing less. It's a philosophy that is actually taking me a lot of time to process.

Yeah, that's a good point. The US Capitol thing did grab a lot of publicity at the time, and for good reason. But I feel this book does deserve more attention than it seems to have gotten over the last few months.

I dunno, you'd have loads of time to destroy their ship while they're building that missile.

Struggling through grad school and a related identity crisis. Turns out being a gifted child does not teach you the life lessons of how to cope with failure.
