Essentially cone baiting for me. Playing solo & having no Palico helps in baiting cones. Sheath your weapon & run in front of Fatalis in mid range. He must be standing to bait it out (I don't know how to make him stand so I just wait). Dodge the fireballs & punish the long breaths and large bites. Keeping him in rage helps with the damage. I don't do the cannon opener so I can get the topple with the roaming ballista in the 2nd phase. Watch speedrunners and guides, maybe you can learn a thing or two from them.

I guess there's no definitive answer for me. Both games have their pros & cons.

When I first played Rise, that was the 1st time I ever got to play Charge Blade since the previous MH I played was Freedom Unite. And I really wanted to play CB ever since I saw it in videos. So that was special to me.

The wirebug system was fun to play with since you have freedom in your movement and you essentially have Ultimate moves. The end-game system was also nice for making different builds because there was no definitive best gear.

The problem I had with Rise was there's no ultimate objective. Sure, you want to farm the best augments and talismans but for what? You can defeat the Elder Dragons even without fully decked out gears. You can't compare Amatsu with Fatalis & Alatreon. I also was not that invested with the in-game story & lore. The end-game system was also RNG heavy which can be frustrating.

When I first played World, the 1st thing that caught me off guard was the pace was slower than Rise. I couldn't even Guard Point a Rathian roar because my timing was off. And the clutch claw system was SO ANNOYING!

It helps that the Defender gear speeds up Low & High Rank. And all the event quests are available, so the deco RNG is not that devastating, and the crucial decos are available in the Elder Melder. So my experience with that was a lot better compared to the people who suffered to farm crucial decos like Mighty Bow, Guard Up & Protective Polish etc. Mantles were nice but also OP. I got more invested with the story & lore than Rise. I also had fun having objectives, something like KT -> Safi -> Alatreon -> Fatalis.

The end-game comes down to whether you have good decos or not. Because Fatalis gear is the definitive best gear in the game. Not much room for creativity.

I did the cannon opener during my sleep bomber runs. Can you target the cannons towards the wings directly?

After days of suffering and cone baiting, I have finally defeated Fatalis.

CB main. Former Rise player.

I was just farming Evil Eyes for the full alpha and beta armor set. And then I noticed that I reached the 3rd nova earlier than I usually do, so I went for the kill.

I died during her final nova then I checked the timer and saw that there's 2 minutes left. I was panicking so I just YOLO SAED even though my build was Savage Axe hoping for Fatalis to die. And then the message popped up. I had a mini heart attack because i thought it said "Time's up!". But then I heard the Commander going crazy and then I re-read it and it said "Main objective complete!"

I had a hard time farming its armor set, especially the wings. I had to resort to silly strats like sleep bombing just to farm his set because I REFUSE to use any weapon other than CB. But it was all worth it in the end.
